LOL
I figured everybody would have really hammered it.

So what is it already!? :-)

i think that's a great shot, gary

This was my idea, but ended up not submitting. The DOF I ended up with here, I did in PS trying out the lens blur tool. The original shot at F2.8, just wasnt shallow enough for the effect I wanted.

I'd really appreciate some feedback. My entry is nothing like those and it's tanking :D.. would one of those have been well received?

Thanks

I definately like the outcome of this shot too. The shadows really help add another interesting facet to the catch the eye.

My favorite was dof1.jpg. I like the center focal point.

It is a little hard to say exactly what I'm looking at?
Is it a volume adjustment or ?

Yea, it was a slider on one of the mixing consoles in my studio. I figured most wouldn't get it so I put it away.

OOO!OOOO! I guessed what it is, well, in my head. Plus I'm a record engineer so I guess I don't count :-(

Gary, great concept! You didn't have an f/1.4 to stick on there to try and increase the DOF "from the camera"?

BTW, much to my dismay, my entry is totally getting hammered, even though (IMHO, of course) it is a solid pic and is an example of shallow DOF that people see all the time...

yeah the second one was the one my 'team of pre-submitting critiques' liked best. As usual though I chose to ignore them and submit something else..

DOF2 is my fave, the blue twisty things... very abstract but cool. I really like the little splashs of red in the sea of blue. I think DOF1 would've done better though. :)

I have the 50 1.8, and it wasnt enough :(

This was my also-ran - I couldn't get the clarity of focus I wanted on the needle. It was to have been titled "Needle In The Pin Stack". Ahem.

Eddy, I see my score dwindling rapidly also. I'm wondering what the magic image is. Beware the trolls. hahahahaha

Wow, if that's what ended up on the floor, I can't wait to see what you entered! I really like that one. :)

Well, this is indeed a great shot, AND a good example of narrow depth of field. Catherine's needle is also very nice.

This is great, love the interest caused by the blured bg, quite pretty indeed.

I like it as an example of depth of field, negative space and shapes.

The exposure is really pretty nasty though - its under exposed and has a pretty yellowy 'white balance' cast.

OK, 1. If you are a recording engineer and 2. if you recognized it, you have scored high in my book already. So yes, you count with bonus points. hahaha

Isn't it better if this kind of "game" waits until after voting is over?

I agree with jonpink. I see this as a delicate dance, balancing and swaying in the wind. A dance of the antelope, running from their aggressors, seeking the direction of others to fend off the certain danger that lurks beneath the subtle passiveness of perception.

OK, I̢۪ll stop.
