I had the 16MB internet for a couple of months, upgraded from 10MB. I have since downgraded back to the 10MB because I did not see a big enough increase in speed to justify the extra 12 dollars per month. To be honest, I didn't notice any drop in speed after I went back down to the 10MB. A friend of mine did the same thing after only a few weeks at 16MB.

A group of us will be playing Forza 2 this afternoon if anybody is interested. We are going to attempt to get the one million online credits.

We got our 360 in July. In December got the Red Rings of Death. Sent it in for repair in January (to New York), got it back in Feburary with a 1 month gold membership. Hooked it up, it updated the dashboard, signed in the code for the gold membership, put a game in and it no longer was able to read a disk. Called and got an uh oh, well send it to Texas this time. So, to make a long story short, it's currently still in Texas being repaired. And, the month will be up before we get it back.

you'll get another one month gold card, and if you want to bitch - they'll likely make good on the one they already sent you.

My 360 actually survived the RROD. Happened while I was playing Guitar Hero. Had paused the game and went to the bathroom, when I came out, it was sitting there blinking the lights of death at me, and I almost started to cry. In desperation, I shut it down, and then powered it up again, fully expecting to start the process and heading for my phone and manual to get the 1-800 number when, bing! It powered up to the green lights, and has been working tirelessly and flawlessly ever since. This happened in the summer.

Knock on wood of course, but maybe there's something special about the ugly-ass green Halo 3 edition. :D

I just had some racing fun with a couple folks online. I blogged about them crashing me, but it was lots of fun. If anybody has Forza 2 they should join in next time.

mine died in rock band ;)

there is a fix for it ( RRoD )- if it's out of warranty. but if you've never built a PC from scratch i wouldn't recommend trying it.

although microsoft woulnd't give me any input on if their repair is similar. they just said it was a general hardware failure... so my guess is they repaired it and put it back together the same way it was - which in all liklihood will end up giving RRoD again - in, i'd guess, another two to three months from now. we'll see....

I just created a group for the DPC'ers on 360voice.com. That is a fun web site that allows your Xbox to log all of its activities blog style and then compete against others in the group. This is the link to the group. Once a few people sign up we can have some challenges.

For the Retro Gamers, Especially (former) Sega Genesis owners. //www.xbox.com/en-US/games/s/sonicsugc/ Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection is sic if you had many carts for your Genesis. Brings back many memories. $29 which is a little more than 4 XBL arcade games is a great price 40 + 9 unlockable games.

Again real retro but redone at 720p, looks great on the 62". The games they mention online are great titles but when I found Vectorman I and II, Kid Chameleon, Decap Attack II, I just didn't know what I wanted to play. Ended up doing two player Columns with the better half for most of the night.

ED: Joined 360voice DPC Group.

I have a few of those 75,000 guys as friends. They put up 1000 in a day if they feel like it. I can spend 3 hours and not get 20.

I raced with this guy overseas for a couple weekends and we always crash each other. I made fun of him by showing some photos of him crashing me, and he just blasted me with this video. Check it out, it is pretty funny.

has anyone here made it all the way through dead space on regular ?

i'm finding it a pretty challenging game. frustrating in some respects ( mainly the semi-clunky controls - or speed in which the controls take effect ). reminds me of how resident evil plays. all of them - not just the newest one.

I almost made it through Dead Space, but then had to return it. It was ALMOST fun enough to warrant a purchase, but not quite.

on what difficulty ?

maybe it's just not my kinda game - but it's pretty damn hard with the creatures coming out of nowhere - in the dark - tied with the slow response from my attack actions... i seem to stomp the floor alot - and flail my weapon at the air... only to be brutally cremated, dismembered, and decapitated by some half dead creature...

I sold my 360 for lack of interest in gaming, I used to be very into gaming as a teen but as I grew older I found there was so much more to exploring real life than games, and the same game over and over is so 2D. I used to play a LOT of games, spend nights and nights up till wee hours of the morning, sometimes I would clock 15 hours a day playing video games..then one day it all stopped, and I had absolutely no interest anymore.

Kinda cool how that works.

I think I was on the one just under the hardest. That's the usual difficulty level I play on. Can't remember though, to tell you the truth. I didn't find it overly difficult though. Trying to find and keep ammo was the hardest part.
03/23/2009 12:19:49 PM · #550
hrmph.

ammo is tricky to stockpile with the limited suit capacity for inventory - especially.
the upgrades at the store are incredibly expensive.
the work bench requires nodes for upgrades - few and far between - with many empty slots sucking up a node. and you can't just upgrade all your stuff - each item has it's own upgrade path... each requiring nodes.
locked doors that likely have loot in them require a node to open.
the over the shoulder view point - with some sort of auto zoom is very disorienting.

i'll keep plugging away. i kind of like it - but i get frustrated. then i swear. then i kick a bag of sod. then all is good again :)
