I know this is an Xbox thread, but are there any fans of the original Half Life game here?
You must check out this clip of an amazing (in progress) user mod.
EDIT: It's a complete recreation of Half Life using the Source engine. For PC only, of course. You might want to pause the clip to let it fully load before viewing.

That looked good. I played that game when it first came out and nobody knew what it was. My oldest son will be happy to see this, he still plays it once in a while. eheh
So you must have played CS then. I did, started at beta 5.6 and played up until just before Steam came out. |

I bought the 360 HD DVD Drive today-
Yes I know Blu_ray won, and no new movies are being releases on HD DVD..
But------------
It is at Sears clearanced for $4.97--- Yep 5 bucks gets the drive, King Kong Movie, and remote..

Nice grab. I currently have ... errrm, about a dozen titles. I just keep checking the pawn shops and ebay and craigslist and kijiji and the like. |

I seen one of these last week on clearence for $9.99 and I thought that was cheap. :)
I have a Toshiba HD player and about 20 HD movies including The Planet Earth Collection, Now we bought a blu-ray player so I might be selling some or even all of the HD titles.
If anyone is interested, I can keep you posted.

This makes me feel so warm inside to know that I paid $170 or so for it right before Toshiba announced they were giving up.

it's different. haven't played a ton. most of the way through prelude to war. did you pick it up?
buddy of mines got me playing gears of war 1, and i'm in dead space chapter 2 or 3.
working on RB2 expert guitar, and ghwt expert guitar.
lot of time on my hands lately...

gears of war is alright - but i don't like - at all - how the story sort of cuts you off. especially in co-op mode. is the GoW2 the same ?
i'm not usually a big fan of strict 'tracked' gameplay.... resident evil series comes to mind. or medal of honor.

oh and there is interesting sounding game called [ prototype ] due out 4/1. looking forward to the demo ( hopefully ).
i played something similar sounding on gamecube called 'geist'. you take on other objects and people/creatures forms and abilities... etc. kinda complicated but interesting gameplay.
oh - and is there a means to back up the xbox hard drive. seems imminent that the HD will die at some point. or can you just re-DL all the content ?

This doesn't have anything to do with games, but I'm kind of disappointed with Xbox Live right now. (shock).
Did anyone else see the Avatar clothing 'update'? Major Nelson is calling it "The Winter Collection"

It's four articles of clothing that don't even match. A brown winter coat with orange stripes and BLUE gloves, and a hat with fire graphics on it.
*sigh*
four articles of clothing in two weeks. Good one. Thanks for this fantastic new avatar system. Lovin' the great updates. Sure glad that I can look so much different than anyone else.

I haven't yet. Work's just been too crazy with year end stuff to get sucked into a new game. I'll probably wait til I'm on vacation.

It's a shame too, as bluray is still inferior to HD-DVD. Sony had to buy the Movie industry (and they did big time) to kill HD off. I bought the 360 HD player when it came out and now I have a bunch of movies.
A while back I bought a Combo Bluray/HD DVD player so I can watch both. I have two Bluray movies and they suck (content and menuing as I got used to in the HD-DVD format). I've come to the conclusion it is going to be better to Download/Stream HD content and not give Sony another cent of my money.

| Just got a 360 yesterday as an early birthday gift from my wife. Waiting on Gears 2 but I did pick up Left 4 Dead. Killer game, it gave my wife the willies and she had to leave the room. I've got to say i like the 360 controller better than the PS3 however I'm not big on paying to go online. PS3 has the edge there IMHO. |

it's like $4 / month. not really outrageous. a cup of coffee at maplefields is $1.70/ day...
i've never used a PS3 - maybe xbox live has a more robust online experience ? ie: less lag, better matchmaking, more options.

Its on GHWT but you can download it for Rock Band 1/2 also.

I agree, but they still have room for improvement especially with EA games.
