I've just noticed in PSP XI (and possibly X2 for that matter) that, in the hue/saturation/lightness dialog, there's a drop down box makred "edit" which defaults to "master" and has choices of reds/yellows/greens/cyans/blues/magentas, presumably so that your HSL control affects those particular tones in your shot.
Do you reckon that'd be legal in basic? I'm thinking not. |

Yes they are as long as you apply them to the entire image.
That's the tool that is allowed for selective desat in basic.

Really? So if I wanted to make the reds a bit redder whilst leaving the other colours untouched that'd be OK? I guess it FEELS wrong to me.
Thanks :-) |

Yeah, it's the same tool as 'Selective Color' in Photoshop. Which is legal in basic.
Go on... be a devil! :-)
eta: Actually, it's the same as the Hue/Saturation dialog in PS

Once you select a color in the drop-down list you'll get a small circle that shows up in the 3 bars between the two larger circles. Click and drag that to match the color you want to adjust a little better. For example, you may want to boost the blue but it's more of a light royal blue; just move the circle around to match the color range. Then apply the Hue/Saturation/Lightness adjustments as desired. |
