Paint Shop Pro has a Clarify filter. I don't know whether the same thing is available in PhotoShop, or what it is called.

Is Clarify allowed in Basic Editing?

Yes, it is.

BTW, no, there is no equivalent in Photoshop. You can sort of replicate it using a combination of USM (try 20/50/0) and saturation (maybe +10 or so?), but it's not quite the same.

Jasc (the company that used to own PSP) was quite proud of this filter. They say that it has been tinkered with by Corel, the company that bought out Jasc and PSP, and that it doesn't work as well anymore, but I don't have the latest PSP, so I wouldn't know.

Don't about about how it was in Jasc... but in Corel PSP X2 it works quite nicely...

Thanx for the clarification.

Both Adobe Lightroom and CS3 ACR have an option called "Clarity" - a sharpen/mild contrast filter slider which may or may not be comparable to the "Clarify" versions in PSP/Corel.

Oooh, goody. I'm glad it's allowed. I hadn't used it before getting X2, so I won't miss how well it worked in the old versions. :) Works pretty nice in X2, so I'm happy.

I'm using an old version of PSP and I love clarify, I use it on almost all of my photos. And yes I have used it in basic and been validated.
