could we have a challenge (theme does not matter) but make an extra stipulation that it MUST be untitled? I think it would be really cool to see if we could convey our message without leading the viewer to it but the title.

It would be fun....extra rule that anyone giving a name, symble, or number would be diqualified. The challenge could be "untilted" |

I definitely wouldn't be entering. I put a lot of thought into my titles. I think they're part of the whole presentation of my work. |

Ok, I'm lazy tonight... no one wants to link to all the other times this has been suggested? ;-)

But can we have a subtitle (that bashes the viewer on the head with the concept of the photo in parentheses)?

has it been suggested but never done? does not seem like such a far out thought considering some of the challenges that have been done here |

I think it should be the 'Like a fish needs a bicycle' challenge, because images need titles like a fish needs a bicycle.

Well, the topic of titles and their importance to a challenge entry has been discussed substantially. As for a "no title" challenge I ran a search and came up with these in the first couple of pages of results (there were more).
No Title
Let's try it out without the "photo titles"
Can I suppress titles? (a wee epiphany)
Remove all titles from photos?

I'm bumping this because I think we should try it.
At first I didn't think it was much of an idea, and that some people who have trouble coming up with titles or those that think their pictures speak for themselves came up with it to help their entries. But i've been thinking more about it and i would like to see how an image would score without the aid of the influencing words. If people want their images to have titles (if only for later reference) it would be nice to just block it out during voting or something.
Since this is a "photo" challenge site I'd like to see if we can meet the challenge with just the photo.

So with all the times it's been suggested then maybe it should be done. I'm not for it or against it and don't know if I'd enter or not but apparently there's interest in it.
