Can someone refer me how to a website that will help me understand all of the bells and whistles for my flash. I have no idea about zoom and mode on my flash.

Do you have the instruction manual? That, plus some practice, is a great place to start.

If you aren't sure when and how to use the Guide Numbers, you are probably better off leaving it in automatic mode.

Well you could read the manual but I'm a guy so I cannot recommend that cause I rarely do....

Try strobist.blogspot.com; have been doing a lot of stuff there recently and it's like someone ripping open you eyes about flashes and technique.

Can't think of a site, but if the flash is mounted on the camera or a TTL cord the zoom will take care of itself. I'd recommend reading the maunal. It's not that bad.

I lost the manual and I was unable to download it from the Nikon site, I thought for sure they would have it posted.

Try the Magic Lantern Guides: Nikon AF Speedlight Flash System: Master the Creative Lighting System . It more than covers all the basic info that you'll need for the SB-600 and more.

I have a SB-600 (and a SB-800)... I use PocketWizards to control and fire my flashes (which are controlled manually). Which can be a pain, but I get exactly what i want when it is adjusted correctly! I would recommend playing with the CLS or getting some eBay remote triggers to play with that SB-600... my only suggestion is.... get it off your camera! :)
