Took this the day my camera arrived, before I even went home from work -- we went to this club to hear a band. I had to try and read the instructions in that candlelight ... this was sometime in the Spring or Summer of 2000 ...

See! And now you need it ... I just burn 'em all to CD and don't worry about having to decide which ones to delete 'cause I never delete any -- no chance of having a mis-take that way ... ;-) |

My first Digital camera was the "Sony Digital Mavica" it held about 18 fine .jpg images to a Floppy and I thought I was in heaven.
First photo was either my foot or my wife with her hands hiding her face, the tradition continues with each new camera and lens.

I don't own the first shots I took with a digital camera. I shot them for a local paper with their equipment. Wasn't anything I'd call special.
Some of the first shots I did with my own digital camera were wet t-shirt contests at a bar. Again, no0thing special.
I don't think I was happy with digital photography til I got back to an SLR.

Found it!

Nikon CoolPix 950 6-28-2000. I had just gotten it (my first digi cam) and was hanging out at a bar that I worked at part time. The girl is a fellow bartender.

I don't have it anymore. The first digital photos I took were in 1998-9 with a borrowed VGA-res (640x480) camera (don't remember the brand). The were pictures of stereo equipment and other stuff I was selling on eBay.
I got my own first digital camera for my 31st birthday in 2000, a 2MP Nikon Coolpix 800 (I think). I do still have the photos from that at home, if I remember I'll post the first one I took with that camera. |

I don't remember the first I took. Sometime around 2000 with the school's mavica. It would be two years before the "bug" actually bit me and I decided to try photography. |

Kodak DC-40 (~$700 I think) May 1996 (oldest so far?)
My son, Brian (looks like Riley, don't he?)
Had the Kodak for 4 years, used it for all company events at a software startup I worked for. Must have taken several thousand pics. ...about a month's worth these days.
Upgrade to Nikon Coolpix 990 (Superhigh-Performance - LOL) June 2000 Paid $1000
This is me in the mall parking lot right after I bought it. I loved that you could flip the viewing screen all the way around!
Yeah, I know, I haven't aged a bit! :) |

I know that the first shot that I took with a digital camera is long gone... it would have been with a Sony Mavica in 1998.
But here's the first digital shot taken of me. I think it's significant because this was actually taken on July 10, 1988 -- almost 20 years ago!
We were in Los Angeles, and a guy was using it to take photos and make t-shirts out of them on the spot. If you asked nicely, he'd give you a print out, which was made on a dot-matrix printer:

Not the first digital photo I took but the first on the 20D I bought my wife as a gift. This is the 1st photo ever taken with the camera and still is one of my favorites to this day, a little bias b/c it is my dog but I still love it. The 20D really got me addicted to photography!

I don't think it's the "first" photo, but it's one of the ones I took the day I received my first digital camera. When my hubby saw this one, he said "you have a good eye", and ever since then I was hooked. My life totally changed on that day.

I think this must be pretty close. Certainly within the first few hours with
my first camera. Same classic McGregor portrait style too...
