As we approach the end of the 2007 FSM it has taken on a new look in preparation for the 2008 Free Study Marathon. Please take the time to visit the 2007 FSM and let me know if it looks ok or if there is anything you would like to see implemented. What I can do to the site is limited at this time, until I finish the PHP/MySQL version.
BTW: If you would like to participate in the 2008 FSM, I will have a link added on November 1st, 2007. The enrollment period will be from November 1st to December 31, 2007.
Thanks,
Scott W.

Hey that looks pretty sweet! I like how you can go month by month like that. Two random suggestions which may be too much work.
1) Lets say you are on February results, is there a way to have next to it the overall results, so when you click to the next month you can see the monthly results and how overall placings have changed.
2) Probably more difficult, but it would be cool to some how have a monthly slideshow where you could start with whoever finished first and go through each entry to see what everyone entered.
Honestly I think the site looks great, these are more of "wishlist" features I'd like than problems. Thanks again for doing this, its my favorite contest/side challenge on the site. :)

#1 - I should be able to do with ease under the current layout.
#2 - I will have to wait till I have the PHP/MySQL version up and running.
Thanks for the feedback and comments.

Scott, that looks really good, great effort. What I miss (and what the old table had) is a possibility to see how one has developed within that year.

That's cool. You've got the list of leaders in one column and a monthly Icelandic landscape gallery to the right of it. :P

I'm confused about how the FS marathon works, as it doesn't seem to reflect the actual placings in each month's free study? |

It counts for points with in the group. So who ever is gets first gets the most with in the group.
Example
Highest place: 132
second highest: 131
etc... |

Points are issued from 132 to 0. The reason 132 points is the most you can receive is because that the amount of participants that signed up for the 2007 FSM. If 500 would of signed up then 500 pts would of been the most one could receive in a single free study.
Based on the participants score [high to low] the points are awarded in descending order [132,131,130,129...0]. Each month the points each participant receives are added and that is the overall points. The most points received is how each participant is ranked.
The HOME link is the overall total to-date. It shows the rank, total points, and name of the participant - listed in ranked order.
Hope that helps explain. I'm going to be refining the layout in time to clarify how points are awarded and hopefully show month-2-month how each participant improved or declined.

As odd as it may seem, I liked the scores posted spreadsheet style so I could view various scores in the particular months.
I was sort of half keeping an eye on the weird statistic that I was the highest placing entrant that hadn't gotten a score above a 6.
I have to make myself feel good about 57th place somehow! LOL!!!!
Anyway, the weird stat aside, the new format is definitely pleasing.
And I'm in for '08.
I can't believe I'm going to, but it's good for me to make the effort and it certainly keeps me grounded.
