I will be coming over to Boston MA for a conference on 24/25 Oct, which means I have the chance to stay over for a few days, perhaps flying back on Sunday 28th.

I need to know where best to spend those couple of days to see some good fall color. Is it worth the drive upto Vermont? or is there somewhere closer with good spectacular views?

Any help appreciated. Oh and if anyone fancies meeting up then I'd be more than happy.

I am not a Bostonian, but I was in the area last year around the same ime, and I highly recommend to drive west to Berkshires (it is on the way to Vermont but you don't actually have to go all the way there), along route 2, the whole road is beautiful. I highly recommend to stop at Williamstown to see the Clark museum www.clarkart.edu, it has an amazing collection of art, totally unexpected in such a remote place

here is my collection from that last year trip

Anything west of Boston. If you do come to Williamstown along Rt 2 it is a beautiful drive. Also, if you do come to Williamstown, let me know - if on the weekend, would be glad to meet you somewhere and show you some of the area's 'spots'. The Clark is around the corner from my house.

Everywhere in the northeast US will be in full fall plumage by that point, though depending on how much frost and wind there has been, you may actually have to travel south to get the full range. It's just starting to turn here in Pennsylvania and the New England states are generally 1-3 weeks ahead of us.
