Well it is pretty bad having to give tickets to the NLCS away right before the game so you can fill the stands for TV. I don't think the rockies had that problem. |

Well he'll have a chance to be a sore loser if the Rockies make it to the W.S. They won't stand a chance if they get the Red Sox. |

hahaha ah...like us Rockies fans have not heard about the beat downs that we would get in the Wild Card and then the NLCS. Now we will have to hear about how we are going to get swept in the series too. Seems to me that the Rockies are the team to beat. |

How many times has that been said only to come back and bite one in the butt? Baseball playoffs are about the hot team and hot pitching and the Rockies are exactly that right now. I'm a Cardinals fan and there was no reason that the Cards should have made it past the first round last year. Yet they went on the beat every team despite the fact that each team they played was better then them. I'm not saying that the Rocks will win it all but I wouldn't put my money against them right now. |

True anything can happen but it's not like they won't be facing an equally hot team if they get there. If they play the Red Sox, nobody has been hotter than Ortiz and Manny. The Rockies have been great but they have also been doing it against inferior teams compared to what the AL teams have to go through. Now if they get the Indians who knows since that's a very young team. |

It is so high up however that on the coldest day if the sun comes out it feels like fire. |

Not to mention the extra exposure to cosmic rays ...
It's also the place where Oscar Wilde is reputed to have observed the sign expressing what he described as "the only rational method of art criticism" he'd ever come across: Please Do Not Shoot The Pianist -- He Is Doing His Best
Here's a collage I put together a several years ago to try and commemorate the event -- that's my grandparents and a friend's grandparents sharing a laugh with Oscar ...

They are really playing incredible baseball these days. Twenty one out of twenty two games won. Swept the divisional series. Swept the National League Championship. And they barely made the playoffs- had to face San Diego for a tie breaker game which they trailed into the ninth inning and won with their final at bat. And they have the fifth lowest payroll in baseball. Who says you need a lot of money to field a good team? Just ask the Yankees.
Looks like Cleveland unless Boston can get their act back together. Go Rockies! One more sweep? That would be asking too much.

I think we'll have our work cut out for us, no matter who wins the ACLS. But the Rockies have one big advantage, their ridiculously Hollywood-worthy hot streak notwithstanding: Coors Field.
Think about it - this is Denver's first World Series ever. The first time an AL team will be playing in Colorado. Coors sits at crazy elevation compared to the other ballparks around the country, and you have to play a different sort of baseball there. Sure, the AL folks will have video and scouting reports and the odd player once traded from the Rockies, but they've never played a team there. They don't know the park like we do. They're not used to playing at elevation, not physically, and not with the challenges it presents to the game itself. It's one big helluva home field advantage.
The Rockies, on the other hand, have been a holy terror on the road, sweeping the last two series that both started on enemy turf, which is definitely something for the AL to fear, and the game doesn't change much from ballpark to ballpark outside of Colorado.

Rockies took two out of three against Boston at Fenway park this year- outscoring them 20- 5. Visiting pitchers have a harder time in Denver since the air is so thin and dry the ball does not break as much. AL teams have visited Denver before during inter-league play- the Yankees and Baltimore visited the Mile High City this year.
And to add to the "good will" behind the team, they pledged one share of their playoff money to the family of one of their minor league coaches Mike Coolbaugh who was killed earlier this year by a line drive. //sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3049388

Damn, I haven't watched a series since Maris, Mantle, Berra, and Ford. I hate baseball. But this Colorado native will "maybe" watch this year I think. |

Go Red Sox! :) I'm certainly hoping for another sweep! All will hopefully be decided tonight! GO RED SOX!!!!
As a loooooong suffering Boston Red Sox fan, I certainly revel in seeing them win another World Series... something my Dad never got to see.
