The "typical description" thing is really hard. Sure you could say "girl with light bulb" or "girl with lit light bulb". I just don't know anymore.

Sometimes it seems "typical description" doesn't really matter anyway. Look at this one...

The "shadow" in the reflection is actually a tree burned to look the a reflection of the shadow. Seeing as the challenge was "Your Shadow", how does it change your "typical description"? (ya, I'm only sore because I'm in 4th in that one.)

Anyway, the takehome point is the "typical description" is subjective in nature and there isn't really any getting around that.

No that example isn't the same. That one created new shapes that didn't exist. It was real easy to DQ it.

I agree the shot isn't the same as Joey's in the sense that strictly defined new shapes where not created but there is a slight element of it there. But also, as sometimes we can't completely burn out detailed(in or oof)backgrounds to black, using dodge to do things can get tricky too. The area is small but the impact is big. So yeah I still wonder...

This one was DQ because of the background. The curtain was blurred to create a uniform colour - therefore changed the viewers perspective.. Don't know if that helps.

I remember there being a photo which was DQed because the dodge tool was used to create streaks of light coming in through a window. It was deemed as an added feature.

I remember that shot, but I can't remember the challenge. Would be a good example of what's being discussed here I think.

You're right. After seeing it again the two images are not really a good comparison.
