The White House News Photographers Association and American University are teaming up for a one day seminar on October 6th which will discuss the new multimedia trends and the future of the industry.
“PHOTOJOURNALISM: SURVIVING THE DIGITAL CHALLENGE” is a full day of exploration into the evolution of stills into the world of video due to the demands for web content.
Speakers include Stephen Crowley of The New York Times, Lucian Perkins of The Washington Post, Pierre Kattar of washingtonpost.com, freelancer David Snyder, Jim Brady editor of washingtonpost.com, freelancer Glenn Luther, Michael Rosenbloom of VNI (Video News International) and Evan Nisselson founder of Digital Railroad.
Panasonic and Nikon will be on site giving demos of their new equipment too.

From November 18th to 24th, 14 selected photographers will join this intensive workshop which supports the Angkor Photo Festival. Among them, 4 participants will be chosen from the students of the Festival free workshops and offered a free course and accommodation
A variety of subjects will be proposed such as: Architecture/Interior Design/Real Estate/Building construction Studio and on-location portrait Movie posters (portrait and landscape) Corporate / NGOs editorial assignments Editing, captioning and retouching Photo file metadata (IPTC, EXIF, geo data) Network and computer setup for file transmission and storage Vincent Soyez and Laurent Zylberman will take care of this workshop.

The Eddie Adams Workshop is a tuition free event that takes place in Jeffersonville, NY, about a 2.5 hour drive from New York City. Once you are accepted, you are responsible for travel expenses, and a flat fee for room and board at the Workshop.
During the four-day workshop, attendees will get to work intimately with some of the best photojournalists in the field today, as well as other photo-industry experts, including photo editors, producers and experienced Nikon technical representatives.
There are 150 industry professionals at the Workshop, many of whom are picture editors and photography directors of national publications such as Time, Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and People. Every evening of the Workshop there is a portfolio review where you can get feedback on your work from these editors.

The Churchill Downs Workshop will be going on hiatus in 2007. Do to circumstances beyond their control they will be taking the
year off with plans to make the following year bigger and better.
The annual Collegiate Sports Journalism Seminar is a tuition-free program held in conjunction with the media build-up to the Kentucky Derby each year.
Forty of the nation's top student journalists and photojournalists, who have an interest in a career in sports journalism and sports photography, will be chosen to participate in this three-day event, the last week of April every year, at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The seminar takes place one week prior to the Kentucky Derby.
Students will have the opportunity to observe and interact with professional sports writers, photographers and broadcast journalists as they prepare to cover the Kentucky Derby. Students will also participate in a day long sports journalism workshop, allowing them to practice their craft against the backdrop of one of the nation's largest sporting events.
Past and current speakers include Bill Frakes, Rick Rickman, Mike Corrado, Lucas Gilman, Dave Black and Skip Dickstein.

Held in cooperation with the NCAA Division I Big West Conference, Sports Shooter Academy participants will be covering major college events along side top professional photographers, receiving hands-on instruction, on the spot evaluations, tips on portrait and arena lighting, using remote cameras, working with coaches and athletes and making story-telling images.
USA TODAY staff photographer Robert Hanashiro directed the first Academy in 2005 that saw 32 students photograph everythng from baseball to basketball to horse racing. Students also shot portraits over this five day event.
In April of 2006 Sports Shooter Academy II was held and the students were also able to photograph NBA basketball, NHL hockey and AVP volleyball in addition to the above-mentioned sports.
Faculty have included Matt Brown, Donald Miralle, Wally Skalij, Dave Black, Michael Goulding, Sean Haffey, Myung J. Chun and Darrell Miho.
Students stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Irvine-Orange County Airport.
