You folks just don't know how truly in "awe" I am. I was originally going to show up with my film camera and my 4300.

Then there was threads on pods and lenses and photo's published and I got to thinking that even camera bag man wasn't a worthy task for me. Hell, at one point I was going to be the bait!!! (thrown from the jeep and trolled like a fishing lure). So in the spirit of comraderie and the opportunity to "hang" with some real life "fotogs", I figured that I ought to at least "look" like I could take a picture. Even got my tan "Cabella's" Safari Coat and my photographers vest with about 3,000 pockets. Nothing is in them, but by god I'll look like a fotog. Well maybe not a Texas fotog, but certainly one of them there up north city slicker fotogs, trying to run with some serious company.

Anyway, really looking forward to meeting all of you and expect to have some real fun. Hoping the Mrs. will snatch up one of the 6006's and snap a few as well. Always wanted a "joint" interest.....maybe this will start something.

Give me the info on that vest will you.
Maybe I will purchase one to match and make you feel at home.

Well maybe 3,000 pockets is a bit of an exageration...how about 19.

Made by Eddie Bauer, mesh back, even available in Tall sizes. Purchased a long long time ago. Have no idea what it costs then or now. Other manufacturers make them....this just happened to be the one I got, mainly because it came in tall.

I already have one of these vests. It was given to me for my birthday a couple years back. I'll bring mine too :-)

I hope taking pics will be as much fun as reading this thread.

Fedora??? Oh man. Now I have to bring my straw australian "outback" style keep the sun out of my eyes hat. This is really getting complicated. I might have to charter another plane just for my gear.

Hey Danny, I'll hitch a ride with you if it's ok, and I'll pitch in for gas too.

I'm excited about this trip too. I have a hunting vest I could wear, you know one of those bright orange ones. Then maybe I won't get shot.

OK, I have one risk taker, any other victims?

This thread is a riot. (people are walking in with a bewildered look on their face, like "what is he laughing at?") Too funny. Bright orange vest, now thats funny.

That's a good point - is it the right season ? Do we need a permit ?

03/31/2004 02:21:29 PM · #114
you only need a permit to hunt animals in Texas.... people in orange vest is a different story.... only months ending with the letter "Y" or "L" are are valid months for "people in orange vest" hunting, and it must be a leap year :)

oooh oooh

I can borrow a bright orange baseball cap and bring along a moose horn! I think we'll have all the animals up close for pictures then!.... that, or running in fear.

Ok the bad news :(

My system has crashed and my computer is going to be down for awhile.

When I tried to reinstall Windows XP Pro, setup was giving me errors and I think the CD was scratched. I had to call Microsoft to order a replacement. Delivery is 3-5 days.

I also have to try and recover my 80gb slave drive with all my photographs on it. I think the partition was corrupted (It was not partitioned.) Any suggestions?

Still trying to figure if it was hardware or a virus :(

I will try to check my email and DPC via my wife's computer as often as I can.

Sorry to hear about your computer crash. :-(

Assuming the hard drive hasn't mechanically failed, I've had good luck using GetDataBack for NTFS. Look into using a WinPE (Pre-install Environment) Boot Disk. A WinPE boot disk allows you to run a stripped-down version of XP directly from CD-ROM.

I connected the "H" drive (slave) to my Win 2000 machine and used the testdisk program to view it. They are FAT32 partitions. The partitions are still there but not quite sure at this point how to recover them. Because it was formatted under Win XP Pro I need and XP machine to do any further investigation.

I still can not figure out how the partitions got wiped out?

When I say partitions, I refer to the Extended partition and the Logical partition. It was one 80gb logical drive for storage only.

Ok, then I recommend GetDataBack for FAT32 :-)

Because they are FAT32, you should be able to hook the drive up to another machine (Win 2000, for example) and run GetDataBack for FAT32 and start recovering stuff (I'm pretty sure you can download and install GDB and "see" what it can see; you only have to pay for a license if it looks like the recovery will be successful in terms of what it found on the drive.)

I dowmloaded and tested this program and it works.

My question is this:

It is an 80gb drive (probably 35gb of data) and this program is read only. It will not repair the partition. It scans and creates a list of files to restore/copy.

Is there a program anyone knows of that will restore the 80gb drive and partition?

My problem would be finding the room/storage to restore the data to.

I havent used in YEARS (maybe version 2.x) before Symantec took it over.
