I hope you share the details with us. After all, it does relate to photography. "DP" stands for "Director of Photography," after all, and many of the "looks" that we go for in our photographs come from film. There's a feedback loop between the two media.

My Bokeh is bombing, big time. My FS has been in a free fall (from a 5.2, all my commenters hate the same thing), and my poster is just blah according to my comments.

Eve, good luck with job interview! Sounds like a dream job!
I'm starting a class in natural light portraiture this week. Hope it improves my (lousy) portrait skills. No animal photos will be allowed :-)

I was just checking my microstock sites and saw that I sold an extended licence for $99! Down side is I only get 1/3 of that. I'm still happy!

Eve, good luck on the job. I hope we get to see that beautiful place you described.

Deb, I love your stories and accounts of life in the middle east. You really are a trooper!

Mary and Catherine, I hope you have a lot of fun with your classes, and share some of your new knowledge with us.

Kelli, congratulation on your sale. It sucks that you get so little of the money, but it must feel good to have someone pay for your picture.

My Free Study is at 5.6 and my Bokeh is now at 4.6 after recovering (if you can call 4.6 a recovery) from a nose dive all the way down to 4.1. I thought this was going to be a nice "boring/mediocre" (BM) shot, but it's not going to make it.

Deb, you're making me appreciate all sorts of things, not just airports!

Yeah, totally! I HATE flying but I'll keep all this stuff in mind next time i do. :-)

Hi all

Wow Deb, sounds like a helluva neat airline!...

...Purple and Jayson, love the cheesy sunset shots...

...Don, you know we love you, O Noble leader, so don't let that Bokeh shot get you down.

Score is par for the course for me...everyone commenting on same minor issue, which I could've corrected but was too lazy to do so. Am busy working, waiting on lawyer for house deal (closing date not til Oct), trip at end of month so preoccupied right now. Will try to get something in this week...did I see mention of a candy challenge?! ooh yummy!

Will try to vote and comment in the meantime...

The fastest way is to PM posthumous, our fearless leader, to find out what your secret initiation ritual would be.

I just threw together one from a few weeks back for the Free Study 'cause I'm in the Marathon, but I *really* put my all into the Bokeh one.....maybe moreso than any other and was really pleased with the result.

Go figure.....

I also have something really weird to share about these two shots after the challenges.

Well, somebody gave me a chuckle in the bokeh thread. They said my DOF was too shallow. I had to laugh!

Hmmm, didn't realize your DOF could be too shallow in bokeh challenge. I'm assuming you do have some bokeh at all in this photo, right? There are a few with nothing resembling bokeh whatsoever, and my interpretation is pretty liberal despite being half-Japanese. At least in my head.

Hey, to everyone who's getting a score below where they would prefer, I think it's time for a round of Team Suck singalong (sung to the tune of "Are you happy and you know it?"):
Do I really like my shot? Yes I do. clap, clap
Do some others like my shot? Yes they do. clap, clap
Does the average voter matter, or is it all so much chatter?
Do Team Suck like my shot? Yes they do! clap, clap

Okay, well, if that doesn't do it, then just listen to the song for some really cute kids. :)

Now doesn't that just beat the crap out of a DPC score?!! Congrats!

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. Heard from the Manager again this afternoon saying they thought my qualifications were great and asked for additional information...I hope that's a good sign!
More good news...lucked upon a slightly used Canon EOS Rebel 350D with lense and lots of stuff that comes with it...for $400! Picking it up tomorrow :)

09/06/2007 01:31:55 AM · #296
Help? I feel pretty stupid.

edit: Never mind. Apparently I *am* stupid, LOL.

Thanks for the rash of comments, Jeffrey. Not sure what prompted it, but it was much appreciated!
