Wow!
As a Navy Veteran, shots like that move the soul.
Speaking of the Navy,
American Naval History............................
The U.S.S. Constitution (Old Ironsides) as a combat vessel carried 48,600 gallons of fresh water for her crew of 475 officers and men. This was sufficient to last six months of sustained operations at sea. She carried no evaporators.
However let it be noted that according to her log "On July 27, 1798, the U.S.S.Constitution sailed from Boston with a full complement of 475 officers and men, 48,600 gallons of fresh water, 7,400 cannon shot, 11,600 pounds of black powder and 79,400 gallons of rum."
Her mission: "To destroy and harass English shipping." Making Jamaica on 6 October, she took on 826 pounds of flour and 68,300 gallons of rum.
Then she headed for the Azores , arriving there 12 November. She provisioned with 550 pounds of beef and 64,300 gallons of Portuguese wine.
On 18 November, she set sail for England . In the ensuing days she defeated five British men-of-war and captured and scuttled 12 English merchantmen, salvaging only the rum aboard each.
By 26 January, her powder and shot were exhausted. Nevertheless, although unarmed she made a night raid up the Firth of Clyde in Scotland . Her landing party captured a whiskey distillery and
transferred 40,000 gallons of single malt Scotch aboard by dawn. Then she headed home.
The U.S.S. Constitution arrived in Boston on 20 February, 1799, with no cannon shot, no food, no powder, no rum, no wine, no whiskey, and 38,600 gallons of stagnant water.
Reenlistment was 100 %

I think this is the part Simms is worried about. Don't worry Simms, in a about 1.5 years we'll elect a woman as prez and we'll re-start the dismantling of our armed forces again. You won't have to worry about the US bullying the world anymore. You might want to learn how to speak Chinese.

Impressive. That's more than 2 gallons of whisky[got to spell it properly] per day.
Amazed they found the way back to the US even in a myth.

Air Force photographers have this thing about using Nikon cameras. I always laught at official events when I see them with their D200 or D70. If only they would switch to Canon, then they could get good shots.

Years ago a friend of mine was a photographer on the Kitty Hawk. They have 5 or6 full time photographers and darkroom staff. He was on it for 2 years taking all kinds of shots with top of the line cameras then (film). My guess this was was a set-up shot for promotional stuff or they knew exactly when the grouping would occur. Also, all of the photographers were shooting at the time from different angles. |

And if you look very, very, very closely at that pic, you'll see 8 Stealth bombers as well! |

Whats wrong with Nikon??? I shoot Canon and always will, but a lot of the shots on this site taken with a Nikon are stunning. Could you expand on why the shots would be better with a Canon?
Thanks.

Sorry to offend, it is called humor. Nikon makes cameras just as good as Canon does. One usually buys one brand and stays with it because of the investment of the glass. I have no preference for either, I just happened to buy a Canon the first time out.

This is an annual exercise conducted in the Pacific called Valiant Shield. It test our ability to work in the same airspace with the Navy, Air Force, Marines and Army. It is a very important exercise not just for the ability to test this, but it also sends a strong message to the Chonger that if he were to test us we have the ability to unleash hell in minimal time.
If you look in the archives you will see annual photos take like this. There isn't a stealth bomber in the photo because it is not time for their rotation to Guam. Right now the BUFF's are on the island. Look at previous years photos (2005 I think, they were deployed to Guam when I was stationed at their home, Whiteman AFB, MO) and you will see the formation led by the B2 instead of the BUFF. Another year's picture might have had the Lancer leading the way, but I dont' remember for sure.
