Hi, I managed to stumble across this website today, and am absolutely amazed. I love photography, especially taking nature pictures, but feel 100% amateur after looking at these pictures. I have a canon digital rebel but am not sure how to use it beyond the basics. If anyone knows of any good websites or anything that explain the basics of photogrpahy (what shutter speed does, what ISO stands for, I'm talking real basic here!) it would help me so much! Thanks! |

Welcome to the site jenny.
One of the best ways to learn is 1. read the manual for your camera and 2 (even better) take photo's at diffence setting to see and learn what each one (F Stop and Shutter speed) does
Also there is some good tutorial on the learn menu.
Regards Tony

If you haven't checked this site yet, you might find useful stuff about the Rebel

Your local Rec Center, High School, or Community College might offer photography classes in the evening. Another resource is your local camera club. You can hook up with a member who is willing to take you out and teach you what they know. It's a great place to start anyway. If you really want to get into it, Rocky Mountain School of Photography (www.rmsp.com) has wonderful classes with top-notch instructors. Good luck! |

Before Christmas someone had posted a link to get the Canon EOS Digital Workflow Guide for free. I got one and even though I have Minolta camera the info in the cd-rom that canon sent me was very helpful. Maybe someone can remember the thread it was in or even have the link for you.
Besides that if you haven't checked this out you might find it a big help //www.photoworkshop.com/

Great idea. Since taking the pictures and viewing them is basically free. |
