What would happen if i shot a photo on a compact flash card with my Canon, and then gave that card to someone with a Sony, and then a Minolta, and then a Nikon, and then a Pentax, and then an Olympus? Maybe not what would happen, but would there be problems associated with that?

It would create a folder for each brand. Many cameras will include another cameras pictures in the view but will still shoot in its own folders such as Fuji101 CANO103 yada yada.

Yup....I can use mine in Canon and Nikon and it will make folders for those individual cameras.

This is good... I have an idea that I want to try. I'll make a new post regarding that...

Just be aware that doing this can cause problems with numbering if you dont format the card between cameras. I know that putting one from certain canon dSLR into another can cause the file numbering to jump dramatically. Its not big deal unless you keep track of how many shots you have taken by not resetting the file numbers. I'm not sure what it would do between makes though.
