My newly acquired D40 inspired me to enter this challenge. My first in 15 months. :)

One thing I noticed... shooting raw with the D40 and using a reasonable lighting setup left me with *far* less post-processing to do than with my old P&S.

I am sure of 250 photos.

I'm sitting this one out. I had a few ideas but no time to properly set up the shots.

This is why I decided to enter my 'still life' in faceless emotions challenge with some twisting title.

Renaissance, modern, post-modern can all fit into the Still Life category.

The only requirements in my mind is that it be composed of inanimate objects.

A collection of sleeping kittens would not qualify, IMO.

Google still life, you'll find almost all the definitions contain the words "inanimate objects", usually a collection of them.

Terms like "Still Life" and "Environment Portrait" mean specific things and require a certian criteria. I tire easily of those who complain that the voters are too "inside the box" when specific and tradational terms are used in challenges and they choose to ingore them in the name of creativitiy. Be creative within the boundries of what is a Still Life and you should be fine. It takes more talent and ability to work within boundries than it does to work without them.

I also agree with the inanimate objects qualification.
For example - in French Still Life reads "Nature Morte".

(No, I don't know much of any French, I just visit a lot of museums.)
