Ok all I would really love some critique on this one. I wish I could have had the professional photographer angle on this one. I was in the stands for this one. I am looking to develop portfolio to take to a local paper to potentially get a chance to freelance. So give me some advice/comments on this one and also let me know if this would be a good start for a portfolio choice for a local paper.
Thanks All,
Mike

Want to see how Sports Illustrated photographers and crew members set up cameras, strobe lights, laptops, and servers to capture the NCAA Final Four?
Check out this article.

I am curious about what length telephoto would be best for surfing photographs. |

Robert,
Thank you for the photo representations as well as the focal lengths. It makes for a clear answer with the included explanations. |

Love everyones photos. Im a very amateur photographer. Here are some of my photos:
all my photos are at www.bmoreravens.com, wish i had a press pass to get better photos!
My panasonic fz10 just went up on me and im looking at another p/s. I cant afford a SLR yet. So im curious if anyone has any suggestions?
Im looking at either the panasonic fz18, canon s5 is, or the kodak 812-is. I bought the panazonic tz3 but not happy with the photos at all.
thanks for any insights.

Hey All,
This should be my last set of sports shots before getting my 70-200 2.8L IS this upcoming week. This is also my first shots since I got my season press pass for the Duke Women's Basketball team. So let me know what you think and how I can keep getting better!

This was my first attempt at a panorama. Done at the Wanderers Cricket stadium at the opening game of the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup.
Took the photos with my Nokia N73, usually the event organizers do not allow cameras into stadiums here, well, I found out later that now they do....

Been gone for a while, needed a break. Was asked to critique a few sports shots via PM, so thought I'd post to this thread again and show what I've been up to. There is nothing better then being able to control your light. 2 AB 1600's bounced into the ceiling. Less shots per game, but compare 800 ISO 1/250th and F5.6 to the ambient in this place of 3200ISO F1.8 and 1/400.

Nearly a month since the last post, and nearly four months since I've posted a photo here! Time to catch up!
The ECC Kats football program had an awesome season, going all the way to the championship, and emerging victorious!
Basketball:
Hockey:
Swimming and Diving:
Indoor Track and Field:
Horrible lighting! 6400 ISO, f/2.0 - 2.8 1/320 - 1/640, and cycling lights. And all the action was in the corners where the lighting is worst! Can't wait for outdoor track in March! |

One more cricket photo. This was the Lions playing the Titans at the Wanderers Stadium. Will post some more later.
The batsman played the ball onto his stumps, you can just see the one bail lifting as the ball hit the stumps. Quite proud of this photo :-)

Spent the weekend at the Gus Macker Basketball Tournament in Buffalo, NY.
Saturday was nice and sunny...
while Sunday brought rain...
