I am recently a member. I was looking at the Adv. rules. Are we allowed to use more than 1 capture to create our composition? Like when using photomatix and you have 3 different captures of 3 different exposures? Or even having a daytime and night time shot, with both moon and sun in the image (Or something like that) or is that a no no?

AND...are we allowed to enter the Free Study challenge AND another one...or is the free study something you enter near the end of the month so that you can enter other challenges in the meantime?

The first rule in the Advanced rules set it pretty specific. It states

You must:
create your entry from a single capture.

Multiple exposures are not allowed. Multiple copies of the same exposure are allowed.

Since you say you were reading the rules, I won't suggest reading them.

But a more careful reading might be in order, because this is addressed by the very first bullet under "You Must"

You must:

* create your entry from a single capture.

As to which challenges you can enter: as a paid member, you can enter all member challenges and one of the weekly mutually exclusive open challenges each Tuesday.

I ask because I've seen in some comments that "This photo was created from 8 images"...I'm sure I've seen comments like that.

Yes - that is allowed as long as they are from the same exposure - one click of the shutter. If you use RAW, you can then save the image 8 different times at different exposure settings during the RAW to JPEG conversion. Then you can use HDR or other HDR type techniques to boost your image.

As noted, you must use a single capture, however if you shoot in RAW you can process the same file at two different exposures and work with those to get a little more dynamic range.

You can enter the Free Study and any other challenges you like (except the "Exclusive" Open Challenges, where you can only enter one or the other. Most people enter Free Studies near the end of the month just because they're still shooting and might get a better shoot with just oooooone more click... ;-)

That's allowed in Expert Editing, but not "regular" challenges.

I love this image...but in the detail it says 3 images were combined.

That was taken in Expert editing - not Advanced. Multiple exposures are allowed in Expert editing.

As commented earlier - I would recommend a very careful read of the editing sets for the challenges you enter. We have four major editing sets, each with subtle but clearly described differences.
