I didn't enter my shot. Figured it'd get slammed.

Good luck everyone.

yup, i'm noticing very few dichotomies. o well. i look at the quality of the image, and if they also have a real dichotomy, then i'll bump it up one. there are a few very clever ones there.

I think you're focusing on only one definition of dichotomy; the division into two suborders (subordinates). Another way dichotomy is applied is to logic, which results in two subclasses which are opposed or contradict each other. Yes I've seen a fair few opposites in there but they are still dichotomies. :)

Ideally, dichotomy should have two mutually exclusive definitions...

Interestingly enough... reference.com indicates that "opposites" is a valid term for a dichotomy.

However I found this definition much more intriguing.

Dichotomy is also a method of execution wherein the victim is cut in two. Off with yer head.

I believe my score has been dichotomized.

Wasn't expecting a huge score, but then I wasn't thinking it would be a sub 6 either (lol, don't we all think that?). Two great comments from Jutilda and SandyP, both believe I got the challenge even without the title. Thank you so much ladies, you've made my day!

YIKES...that's too funny! My children already dropped my earphones in the swimming pool. Do you know...those things still work!

::Pops in earphones to listen to new music from Placebo...frowns and vaguely wonders...who is Hannah Montana?!::

ahhhh! my little sister loves Hanna Montanna! I cant stand it

Dichotomy is the same as lobotomy, except it involves a different part of the body.

Oh you are MORE than welcome!! I bet yours is one of the 3 me and Jutilda told each other about as being our favorites in the challenge. We had the same 3. . .and there really weren't that many that we totally loved. . .so KUDOS! Can't wait to see which one is yours.

Oh, and I'm smiling because mine just poked its head over 6.0 (barely). So I can go to sleep thinking it may end up with a downright respectable score after all :) (prob'ly till the light of dawn :)

There is evidence that Britain and America suffer the dichotomy of a common language.
07/10/2007 02:58:01 AM · #66
What I don't really understand is the "splitting into two (as in biology)" use of the word... it's a valid definition, according to the links, but the challenge description specifically mentions one of the definitions, and it wasn't that one.

This whole meeting the challenge thing is tough... maybe I should just enter free studies from now on ;-)

I have to say the votes are trickling in and I don't think I've ever seen such a slow voting pattern in any of the past challenges I've entered.

I'm not voting, but I just wanted to say that some of the photos were simply amazing in both thought and execution.

Have a great day Everyone!

"An Englishman in New York" is an excellent dichotomy. Why didn't anyone think of that?? Darn it, I didn't.

Does everyone hear that?!!! YEP...that is the sound of DPC snoring...Zzzzzz! Everyone must be napping today.

Thank you to the three voters who voted on my photo today...:-)
