| I know there have been posts, but I can't find them, on lighting. I bought myself the SB-600 mainly because most opportunities I get to take pictures of my wife (Who models for me and lets me practice) is at night when we don't have that nice sunlight. I don't like the onboard flash. So I wondered if someone could point me in the right direction for learning to use this single flash for a variety of projects, not just portrait stuff... |

| Strobist is IMO the best resource. |

Just posted this yesterday in Cindi's thread - great links:
Originally posted by smurfguy: Inspired by this thread and some others to further investigate studio lighting, I've come across some great websites with tutorials and setup shots which others here may find useful:
Photoflex Lighting Tutorials: Great studio tutorials, including comparison images and shots of the setup. Shamelessly advertising Photoflex products, but what do I care - the information is free.
The Strobist: On Assignment: A photojournalist's blog about lighting for his daily assignments. Advocates a portable, inexpensive equipment kit, and has a great lighting 101 section. I found these entries (here and here and here) particularly interesting.
DIYPhotography.net seems to have some useful stuff - I like this custom bokeh article.
With so much junk to wade through on the Internet, I love finding sites with actual useful information on them. If you have any gems, please feel free to post them (I don't think Cindi would mind given the thread topic, but I suppose she could ask us not to if she'd prefer) or PM me. |
