I just submitted for the on the edge challenge but have realised that my camera reset the date & time values! What should I do! How can I prove that I took it within the challenge deadlines?

Desparately need help! Went thru crazy trouble to get this shot! Don't want to loose it!

It's not an issue unless someone requests a DQ.

But if they do, what can I do to prove I just took it. I mean I just got back from the city.

Nothing you can do about it now. Might as well relax and enjoy the challenge. It will probably turn out all right.

You're right. I hope things work out bc I went crazy trying to get this shot tonight so it would just the way I wanted it to be!

Likely nothing you can do to prove it unless there's something in the photo which fixes the time (shot of a sporting event, for example). If the EXIF showed some "standard" date after the reset (like 2001-01-01, 00:00) there will be little doubt of the reset; you'll then have to offer some other convincing argument or beg for mercy.

Unfortunately, if you get a dq request, you are screwed :(

But I didnt even have my camera in 2002, whcih is the date that it reflects! I don't even think that the camera existed then? There must be some way.

The site council has disqualified photos in the past where the date of the image was not verifiable, but the request for dq came for some other reason. Your photo will be ok unless it gets a dq request or if it places in the top 5 or 10 in the challenge.

I know the question is gonna come up "what about cameras that don't record exif data" and I don't have an answer to that.

You are right, I don't think they made that camera in 2002. That could be your defense if needed.

I have witnesses as well that I hop e will vouch for me. Plus, just in case, I didn't fix the date & time yet. Maybe I can take a shot fo the paper or something, Dunno.

I can at least assure you that producing the original with an explanation will serve you better than just giving up ... If you think that there is actually a high likelihood of a DQ request, I believe you can request an adminstrative note be added as soon as the challenge starts -- sort of like pre-verifying your own photo. That and this thread seem like plenty of pre-emptive action for now. At least you are happy with your photo!

I'm less freaked out now then 20 mintues ago. Thanks for the quick replies everyone. Gonna let the dice roll & see what happens. And you guys are right, I did go crazy to get a shot that really pleased me. And at the end, no matter what happens, I am happy it!

I don't know, I think you should go back to groveling ... and maybe send us some chocolate-chip cookies as an "insurance" premium ... :)

Hey, that's not nice! Kinda funny though! :)
So where do I send the cookies?

Sorry, I meant that completely jokingly, and was hoping to convey the idea that it was not so serious a problem as you first thought.

Your situation is actually quite opportune as we have another photo (from a previous challenge) in exactly the same predicament, so you will not be setting a precedent.

No point in sending cookies this time of year anyway ... maybe you can just post a photo of your favorite cookie. Then eat it and relax -- your photo will be fine.

My bad. I know you were joking. Thought I throw a joke of mine own out there as well.
