... what would be the most lucrative thing you would buy yourself?
Here in Texas, the MEga Millions just hit $100 Million! Yikes! Sure, you would give to charity, pay your bills, and help out your family... but what about YOU?
Come on now... with a hundrem million bucks? Shooooo, I could get cuh-ray-zay!
What about me, you ask? Well, I'd buy a 911 Turbo and a huge Land Rover for starters. Then maybe a $500K home... and even that would be too big. An enormous pool with a jaccuzzi for 10. Oh and a wet bar with Cristal on tap... fo' thuh honies.
Howzaboutchoo?

Leave the job, start a camera-trying store. Of course, I'd have to have 1 or 2 of every current model in-stock. Have a studio in the back. And a yard with a pond outside that, loaded with bird houses and feeders and salt licks.
Oh yeah, first - tithe to various charities, pay all the bills of all my family members and a couple of my friends. Sell my house and get a single-level ranch, large, but not obscenely.
All those things probably account for less than $15 million. What to do with the other $85 million?? TRAVEL!?!

I'd get a hasseleblad medium format camera, full set of lenses and filters, and a Leaf-Valio digital back. Of course, I'd need a computer with a huge ram, too. |

Buy a huge RV and go on a five year drinking binge while visiting DPCers from around the world.

That would be the huge RV with the really long snorkel for those trans-oceanic road trips? |

I'd do the whole pay all the bills give to my family type stuff, then quit my job and the hubby and I start our travels around the world. If we like a place, we'll buy a house there. If that means we end up with 10 houses, so be it. I'd also take pictures all day every frickin' day. And using whatever digital camera is the latest and greatest.

I would pay everything off, make some good investments and stash some money aside (in case i go TOO nuts with my money, I will have a little to rely on).
I would set my parrents up in a new home with a maid and a cook, also I would get them each a new car.
Then on to me.... I would get some very nice camera equipment and a very large telescope, the best CCD for astrophotography and dome to put it in out in West Texas. I would get a nice RV and a jeep that will handle the rugged back country roads in Big Bend National park and spend about 6 months exploring.
I would of course get a nice mid sized house here as my home base.

A Hundred Million would almost be a decent downpayment on a little condominium here in Orange County, CA. Then, my only problem would be making the mortgage payments...

I owuld reant a cruiser, invite all my friends & their friends for a cruise around the world. Each of my friends could choose a place in the world that they want to go to. We would map it in sequence & be off on the longest party ever!
Yeah baby!

I buy the world a coke and teach the world to sing.
Ya know . . . grow apple trees and honeybees . . .
Yeah, right. 1Ds and all the L glass I can find or the Mamiya Pro 645 with the Valeo digital Leaf (22mp).
Well, I'm sure I'd branch out and do something else. Maybe a winter trip to Paris every year and a spring trip to Amsterdam. Oh, what about a drinkin trip to Germany to lookup Nasti and Kiwi (maybe I'd ride over with Jacko).
I'm sure realistically I'd call my accountant and put a lawyer on retainer and figure out how to turn 100 million into some real financial power.

I've thought of this quite often so I'm pretty set with my what ifs.. besides the Powerball here in Oregon is at 137 mil I think.
I'd take care of family & friends, bills and whatnot..
Go on to set up some investments with good returns should something unfortunate happen (yay rainy day funds) then I'd buy an obscene amount of acreage here in Oregon, coastal and inland, some in Colorado, Montana and Arizona as well. A nice mid-sized house for each place. Start my cafe and charity that I have all ready. Buy quite a bit of camera equipment and take classes to really learn how to use it. Buy the Lancer Evo. Learn to drive stick. Then starting with Scotland.. tour every other continent taking pictures as I go. Once I've finished and am back in the states I'll do a U.S. tour as well.
Rinse and repeat as interest and money allows. |

Taxes, I'd pay a lot of taxes.. haha. Powerball is currently estimated at 137 Million.. the next numbers will be 2-15-16-20-24 PB- I'm just going to leave the powerball blank because thats the ticket I have for tomorrow and I don't want to split it with anyone. ;)
Taxes on lottery winnings is close to 50% isn't it?

I think its 40-50% for taxes... plus.. on the back of the ticket it says that it only pays out 50% for the annual estimate (not sure exactly how that works).
So I'm thinking on the low end.. I get half of 137mil when I win.. then 50% of that will be taken in taxes.. so about 34.25million.
Not as impressive as 137 but still more than I have currently. |

Yeah, I don't think I'd complain. Either would those institutions that gave me those student loans.
