Once you have uploaded the photo to your portfolio, make a note of the image_ID number which is located in the url on the photo page. Then when you create a post click on this icon: which will give you a popup window where you can enter in the image_id number. Just put in the numbers and nothing else and hit ok and your photo will show up as a clickable thumbnail in the post.

For example, to post this photo of yours enter 568556 after you clicked the icon.
