yeah but that was more of a test to see if I could pull that off, and let me tell you that it was more set up then just lighting an inscent and snappng a pic. Besides during the time I did my match I was the only one in that challenge and actually the only one that did a match for over a month prior too and after the challenge.


I see you are feeling better about your post but still wanted to say...

so what you are saying is that it is ok for you to "test" doing something but if someone else has done it recently then everyone else shouldn't touch it for awhile? How many people knew before they entered the challenge that they weren't gonna be the only one? Maybe this is the first time someone has gotten the opportunity to do a certain shot, maybe they just learned how and are eager to try it maybe they are trying to expand themselves and grow. And if I may qoute an old saying "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".

You may be tired of seeing a certain image that you think is unoriginal or over done but take into consideration that it just might be something new to that member.

edit for spelling but I'm sure I didn't get them all ;)

It has nothing to do with the number of challenges anyone has entered either. I believe that anyone serious about photography has to learn to look at photos as if it was the only one like it they have ever seen. Until that skill is developed, you tend to judge something other than the photograph when the photograph is what needs to be judged.

Good smoke images (as well as good drop/splash images) are more difficult to do than they look). Btw, I didn't throw a blueberry in the milk. I threw milk into the milk ;-)

It's time for a "Smoke" challenge I think. No fire just smoke. Then we can do a "Sunset wthout landscape (no ground or manmade structure showing)" What better way to bring ya'll into the fold and learn to be friends ;)

Not true... If you live in Hawaii you could get smoke without fire in a sunset landscape (volcano) well if steam counts I guess.

Oh and everyone hugged earlier so its all good now. This is such a great family where someone can say something about an opinion they have and then after a little discussion everybody hugs.... just like the coffee shop mentality in another thread.

ok I feel compelled to say this yet again... there is no picture you can take that hasn't been taken before... unless of course if it's a picture of some new phenomenon that has never happened before... but other than that.. it's all been photographed before, so saying that people should be original is pointless.... they can't be because it's all been done before,,, many time it's been done better.... sometimes, not.

Originality comes from taking an old idea and making it new. Simple duplication won't do that and we do get a lot of that here partly because many view this site as a place to learn.
