For those of you who took the bet that

purpleflutterby13 would enter more challenges than me this month...well, it was close but I got an entry for Lucky 7. I have a few ideas for the open challenges, but they all depend on me having time and cooperation with specific family members tomorrow.

So I kinda been twitchin' all week. This is my news.......

I bought my 12 year old daughter, Eleanor, a D40 and a membership....

She promptly smacked me around in her first challenge, the Free Study, and she's holding at 5.7 on Weekend, the little stinker!

She leaves for Hawaii on Wednesday, so I'm thinkin' she may come back with a shot or two for the July FS that'll slap me down all over again.

What was I thinking????

So? Ignore the excessive protestation of the lady (while sympathising with the plight of one who may soon be engaged in a 6-month intimate study of sand).

That was a long way down the list of a million reasons for going to Iraq, by the way. Having left the new world and travelled to the old, why not go to one that's even older? That was a bit higher up the list.

Okay......how about "Summer Adventures"?

Camping, swimming, fishing, lounging in the hammock in the shade, dogs splashing in the pond......anything that just calls out the three Hs......hazy, hot, and humid.....The picnic, the preparation, getting the watermelon.....

Well.....I don't really think that's up to me, and I really haven't said anything to her, or anyone here for that matter.

She's going to Hawaii on Wednesday and will be gone for two weeks, and then Jet-lagged for the week after that, prolly......

I think we probably ought to have some discussion on the subject in the event that she asks.

She's no neophyte to the world, and she's actually been around DPC since last October, only as a registered user and non-participant, but you guys need to decide if she'll fit without making anyone uncomfortable.

I'd love to have her be welcome if she expresses an interest, but I don't want to press her into it if it doesn't occur to her, nor do I want anyone uncomfortable because of her tender age.

Make the call and I'll respect your wishes.

Or just ignore it and we can deal with it if and when the time comes.......8>)

NikonJeb, I don't think anyone would have an issue with

pwncakesauce joining your team, assuming she wanted to be part of Team Suck. Honestly, aside from the "Scores" update on Tuesday, it doesn't matter at all which sub-team anyone is on.

Just my 2 cents but I think ANYONE that loves photography is a good fit, age is just a number...since TS is such a great place to learn and grow, Why not? Just my thoughts...

Here's one for the new category......I spent the afternoon yester day with five twelve year old girls-first to the arcade, then to the movies, and capping off the day with mayhem and pepperoni at the local pizza shop.
