Does anyone know what kind of flower this is? I took this in the San Francisco Botanical Gardens, if that helps. If not, can anyone recommend a good online resource for identifying flowers? Thanks!

Looks like some kind of dogwood. Was it a tree or shrub? |

Too bad there wasn't a sign next to it ... I thought that was the point of a Botanical Garden. |

So far I haven't see your variation, yet. Nothing with the shiny evergreen leaves, the pink varigation and the lack of indentation on the tips of the petals....but I'm sure it's in the dogwood family, now.

Thanks for all your feedback. I assumed it was a dogwood too (which is why I didn't even check for a sign, Paul, but will next time!), but I couldn't find any comparable dogwood images online. I'll swing back by the next time I'm the park and look for an ID.

Definitely a cornus of some type; beyond that, I'm no help.
Btw, the white and pink parts are the bracts. The flower is actually only the little cluster in the middle :) |

I love it here! You learn something new every day. "bracts" <<--adding that to my vocabulary list, thanks. :) |

Definitely looks like a form of "Cornus kousa Satomi" - a new variation, but this is more white than any images I can find.
