You were correct on the first part, partially correct on the second part (the Secretary of the Navy wanted the flag), and wrong on the third part (photographer Louis Lowery snapped a picture of the first flag raising).


On the second part I stand corrected. On the third part however I respectfully disagree. I stated that no photo of the original flag being raised was ever taken. If you look at the Louis Lowery photo of the original flag you will see that the flag is all ready up and in a vertical position... not in the process of going up which is what I meant by "being raised".

Ahh...I see. I guess the guys holding the flag pole there are simply keeping it from blowing away, and every caption of the L. Lowery photograph is wrong.

I say "tuh-mey-toh"---you say "tuh-mah-toh." It's still a fruit. Or is that a vegetable. Or maybe more precisely, a berry....
