I would also like to be a student. How much is the tuition? Do you have a scholarship program? Is room and board included? Do I have to move to Iceland?...I hope. |

I would find fun in being a mentor... but would anyone really want to learn from me?

Advanced classes, I assume?

Someone wanting to learn more about urban and goth portraiture I would assume. The goth is not my style, but the urban I enjoy. If you want to start it, we'll put it on the class list and start a thread.
One note: all threads for the actuall "classrooms" are supposed to be in the Out and About section per previous request of the SC. |

Steve Davidson and I had discussed starting a new Landscape mentorship thread. I'll check with him to see if he's still up for that. I'd be glad to do it myself if he's not. Assuming folks want that... I can do a "Photoshop 101" mentorship also, the basic and intermediate stuff, if necessary.

I'd like to do PS and B&W...student that is. If it's about the money then I can hawk off my ribbons...I'm sure someone out there would like to complete the set and already has a blue and red. |

Okay, I'm trying to go through the thread and get everyone listed in the first post. Sorry if I missed anything, and I'm still updating, so don't freak ;)
Robert - maybe you can talk with Ken about which of you would like to lead the PS 101/201 classes.

I would really like to be a part of the portrait group---the student part that is :-) Now that I've got some lights, I could really use the help learning how to use them best!! |

Hi, if you check back on this thread., you can peek at them. Basically the leader gives an assignment, usually with some reading assigned or a writeup, then the participants get back with what they did, what they're having problems with, and so on. |

Let me publicly state that maintaining mentorship discussions is a demanding task but anything with Bear_Music is easier because of his knowledge, experience and ability to communicate effectively.

I have PSP but I'm sure if you have a photoshop class it would still benefit me I would think. |

yeah, I think getting into the specifics of each program might be overkill, and not many people are going for it.
I think instead we can make those into advanced editing techniques for each instead. I know that trying to make compositions in Elements or any program that lacks masking is pretty difficult. I can probably chime in on that for PSE. |

Looks like Ken has plenty of help in PS101. If he wants me aboard I'll be happy to lend a hand, but the guy's a very good 'shopper and I doubt he needs me muddying the waters :-)
Go ahead and put me in for landscape, and we'll add Steve if he says "yes".

I would be interested in the Photoshop lessons, but currently I only have Elements, so maybe I need to wait.

Practically all "Photoshop 101" lessons would apply to Elements. It's only when you get tot he really serious stuff that Elements falls short. Some of the specific NAMES of thin gs are different in Elements, but someone can help you with that.

That sounds like something I could do, but to be honest I haven't paid attention to this whole mentorship thing. I'll have to do some catching up to see what's involved before I commit. |

You're free to structure it any way you want. Mostly, mentors have posted discussion of topics then "assignments" based on that discussion, so it's like "lectures and homework" in school for the most part.

Ok - Bear covered much of the basics in this workshop, so if he doesn't mind, I might plagiarize some highlights from that since this is a PS 101 class. I won't cover workflow though - I think people can refer back to the aforementioned thread for that since my workflow is nicknamed "reckless chaos" and could likely melt your computer.
I will put together a topic outline, get a little feedback & measure interest and then formalize a plan from that. How does that sound?
Also, I'm rescinding the plaid skirt requirement and replacing it with lederhosen and funny hats. |
