Thanks Brandi! Most of my waterfall shots (that are decent) are from later in the day while hiking back, light was just too harsh in the afternoon.

Maybe that was taken after you tested the bouyancy of your lens hood? ;-) |

Okay, I'm not really pleased with the outcome of my shots. But not having an ND filter and never having shot waterfalls before; I guess I'll chalk it up as a learning experience. But out of approx. 200 photos these were the best ones. I did some light image processing (mainly hues, minor dodge & burn, and some USM). So I am not sure how much is a lack of the photo and how much is a lack of pos-processing. All I know is I have a lot to learn to get my shots to come out with the quality that many of my DPC friends shoot at.
:)
(PS - Thanks for pointing the rainbow out to me in this last one.)
These shots are not photoshopped (except re-size/re-sharpen), this bizarre effect was achieved via the use of two polarizers. Not having an ND filter I was endeavoring to reduce the visible light by stacking my polarizers. On the last waterfall, when rotating one of the polarizers I noticed that I was getting strong color shifts and filtration. It created an interesting effect.

That just may have been the face! That situation went something like this:
Unscrew, unscrew... oops! ...boing... ...boing... ...sploosh!... ...(expletive deleted)... ...phew!... |

Yeah...but had it been the lens and not the lens hood it would have been.
"Unscrew, unscrew... oops! ...boing... ...boing... ...sploosh!... ...(expletive deleted)... ...more (deleted expletives)...followed by even more(deleted expletives)"

Yes, if anything was going to go boing boing into a stream, a lens hood was a good choice.
Speaking of accidents, how are your basketballs -- I mean cameras -- Shannon and Scott?? |

What did they both drop theirs? |

Shannon said he dropped his during his extended stay at the falls by the highway (before we took the falls trail). But he also claimed to have seen a bobcat at one point, and a hot babe modeling under one of the falls, so I'm learning to listen to him with a raised eyebrow :)
Scott took a little fall, possibly due to failing bionics, very near the end of our trek, and put a little bit of a ding in his lens.

DISAPPEARING MARSHMALLOW BROWNIES
1/2 c. butterscotch chips
1/4 c. butter or oleo
3/4 c. flour
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 c. mini marshmallows
1 c. semi sweet chocolate chips (6 oz.)
1/4 c. chopped nuts
Melt butterscotch chips & butter in 3 qt saucepan. Remove from heat. Cool to lukewarm. Add dry ingredients, vanilla & egg to butterscotch mixture. Mix well. Fold chips, marshmallows, and nuts into batter just until combined (about 5 strokes). Spread into greased 9x9 pan. Bake @ 350 20-25 minutes. Do not overbake. Center will be jiggly but becomes firm upon cooling. Keep pan away from Alan as he'll eat the whole damn thing before anyone else has a chance.

I didn't get any of the magic brownies as I was too busy cooking. So I reserve one for the next PA GTG. |
