Good point, and I agree completely. It occurred to my that my observation earlier, about what a collective TS effort might total to, might have a hint of "pressure" to it, but none was intended. It was more about making a point as to how easy it might be to raise the funds needed, given enough participants.

Absolutely no pressure to donate, and give, if you do, what you can with no worries about a 'correct' amount. Thanks for organizing this Jeffrey!

Jeff - when you get a chance, check your email.

David - WOO HOO!!!! Go on that score! P.S. Some very nice shots from Vegas in your portfolio - I'll take a longer look in a bit and leave some comments.

Ok, I've got a couple of the pictures up here. Feedback would be appreciated. I'll put up more at some point, I came back with a lot of photos!

It's weird, I didn't really feel comfortable with the pictures I was taking... I love coming up with concepts and working in staged settings, with people modelling for me. However, when it came to wandering around and taking pictures of things that looked interesting, well, the photos just weren't that remarkable, it didn't seem like I was tapping into anything. Maybe I'm missing theory. Maybe I'm missing practise. Or maybe I should stick with what I'm better at...

Saying that, I had fun wandering around with a camera :) And shooting in B&W was kinda addictive (though silly - it makes a lot more sense to shoot in colour, then do B&W conversion in pp. But I felt like it at the time)

Just give the PayPal account once you have the details/kinks worked out.

The amount you give, whether $0 or $500, is irrelevant. I've been talking to a few other folks like me who have been very lucky in life, and we'll fill in anything that's needed.

I've got a paypal account, and it worked quite well for getting Jeanne's flowers after she fell, so I'd be happy to do it again.

Speaking of which, TS's generosity is such that we could easily blow right through whatever Kelly needs, and I don't want to have to figure out refunds. :)

So please hold off for a bit. Kelly, if you'd please choose a few specific options that would make you happy, and do some research as to where to buy it online, that would give me a target. Then we can tell everyone and start collecting.

Thanks!

Jeff!, Thanks for stepping forward to be the US contact for this worthy cause.
If there is an over subscription for the camera and your costs through paypal, maybe we could have a photo $$$ challenge for those who participated just a thought.
Waiting for the paypal link.

I will donate towards Kelly's camera once amounts, paypal account is sorted, but it will have to wait until payday. So mark me down for $10 and I will send it by paypal at end of month. If that's okay??

I would like to make a donation to help out too. Just let me know when it's all set up. Terry

It's just not meeting the challenge, according to my 5 comments. Still, I expected a 5.xx, and the scores seem to be more about DNMC than the shot so I'm not upset. It is nice to have a score on my front page when I log in!

melethia Thank you for your very kind and constructive comment on my DPL Album Cover.

You beat me to it, hywind, thanks Deb! :-)

If we know how much the broken camera replacement fund needs and if we're likely to get it then I can pop some cash in. $10 or whatnot.
05/16/2007 05:08:49 PM · #2268
I have to agree with hywind, yep, thanks melethia for your comment on my DPL Album Cover...somehow you hit the nail on the head about exposure and title. Thanks Deb!!

My vanishing points entry is doing the perfect TS - a 10 and a dnmc right after each other - yay...

I gave high scores to many of the album covers. I was most impressed with the fun and/or creativity in the majority. Hope I got to / get to a few Suckers with comments!

Gotta say that was one of the most fun challenges I've voted in a long time! There are no bad entries. There are some incredibly awesome entries! I'm amazed at the creativity of people here - blows me away.

I think Jeff will at some point provide PayPal info - and I'm equally blown away (but not at all surprised) by the generosity of the folks here. You are good peoples!

I would like a re-run you missed a comment on mine, as he wipes the tears away.

If I might make a suggestion....I was the beneficiary of such an outpouring of generosity and caring in another time and another place.

When the actual hat passing comes about, be specific about the time frame, and everybody start out small so that all of those who want to share in the effort, can.

It's very meaningful when 50 people give $10, not that two giving $250 isn't wonderful, but it's nice to let everybody who wants to, help.

That said, I don't have a lot of money, but count me in for some help.

Kelly, we love you, dear!

BTW, this would be just another of the many reasons it is so wonderful to be a part of this group!

Excellent point, Jeb!

By the way, I hate to say this, but I think it's time for a new clubhouse again. It's taking forever for this thread to load these days... And just when the smell of fresh paint was starting to dissipate.

okay, the honors should go to xianart or quiet_observation, whoever gets there first.

btw, Melethia, thank you for your decidedly unconstructive, not particularly kind but very funny comment. I loved it!
