BTW, just in case any y'all are viewing me like Kathy Bates in "MIsery" as Svetlana's "Number One Fan", I just gotta say something to the rest of you as well.
I now have four 6+ shots on my profile page. Someone who may not know me may look and think that this could be a pretty decent photographer.
I am.
But I wasn't 'til I got here. Any of ya that want to take the time.....go back through my challenge entries and notice the growth.
ALL since being here. And it's all perspective, attitude, confidence, and the guidance, encouragement, and in some cases, a virtual bitch-slap upside the head.
No lies, no lily-gilding, just real honesty and real effort from a group with similar tastes, talents, and direction as members of the school of real life, not just the narrow spectrum that you can get sucked into as a score driven obsessive.
You guys are the best, I'm truly grateful to have found you. I had one of the sh*ttiest days I've had in a long time and I come home to crank up the computer and find you all offering the greatest encouragement and best wishes and hopes to one of the most amazing young women I've ever met.
Most people would just be jealous and/or not know what to do or say......not you guys.....your warmth, understanding, and helpfulness shine through freely to give another of you all the strength she could possibly need without blowing smoke at her.
This is my peaceful harbor, my hammock in the shade, that quiet, secret promontory with the breathtaking view.
When I was standing there on that beach in South Carolina racking off pics as the sun came up, I was thinking about how many of you'd be doing the same thing there, laughing your asses off knowing that one of the 87 pics that you'd taken would be decent......but that you still took the other 86, and that DAMN there's a lotta friggin' seagulls at 6:30 in the morning!!!!!!
So thanks for having me to the party, I've been learning, I ain't done yet, and in the immortal words of a famous philosopher,"Ah'll be bock!".

Does anyone know how to do "Tone Mapping" on a single image in CS2?
Maybe there is already something out there but I haven't seen it if there is. |

I'd be very interested in this as well. Bear_Music's instructions only work for PS7.

take a flash light too. You'd be surprised what a flash light will reveal in dark places lol.

in the basement - look at the plumbing and utilities, it helps find cracks in the walls. trying to think what else we looked at but it's been a while. Oh the attic too. Places where the lighting isn't very good. It helps give you kind of look past the cosmetic appearance of the house on display.

When we moved to Chicago, I took about 50-100 pictures of each place we looked at. Since we were moving from California, having all those pictures helped us remember all the details of what we had seen. The selling agent (and the sellers, if they were present) were not bothered by this at all.

If I were trying to sell my house, I would not give any househunters permission to photograph inside my house. |

Some househunters would take that as a sign that you really were not keen to sell your house to them ...
If I were you Kashi, I would not DREAM of NOT taking it with me ... it would help you remember what you saw in different houses ... and like someone else said ... even rude quick auto flash shots in basements, attics, under sinks and places like that might expose very obvious and serious wiring, plumbing or water leakage problems ...
IMO ... It is not like buying a chocolate bar ... it is a HUGE investment and a HUGE decision ... If ppl had a problem with me photographing the house as I contemplated buying it, I would be rather suspicious.
Of course I would honour anyone requesting that I did not photograph any areas with photos or paintings on the walls that would identify anyone.
If anyone REALLY freaked out ... you could always leave it locked up in the car ... but I bet you don't get much opposition ... People WANT to sell their house when it is for sale, usually and are usually quite tolerant to everyones' buying process. But I CANNOT IMAGINE not even taking it WITH me to go house hunting. NOT AT ALL!
That is just MY take on it ... but I am rather bold.

When my parents were house-hunting, they went around every house both photographing and measuring all the rooms, and making extensive notes and diagrams along the way. Partly because they're scientists/engineers and it shows, but partly because it's very easy to get swayed by first impressions along the lines of 'oh, I really don't like that paint colour' and 'the garden is messy', which shouldn't really be taken into account since once the house is yours, you can do whatever you want with it. Having factual records helps you make the best decision. |

Speaking of being an engineer, how is it that I'm having trouble coming up with ideas for a good Pi shot??

Still have your trig book? That's where I'd be looking. Of course, i would lose a ton of people with anything I'd get from there!
edit: edit to say because I have a different way of interpreting things - that is why i'd lose so many people.
