Hey all, I just finished a slideshow that I'm gonna put on my website. It's not available to the public yet, I was hoping to get some comments & critiques from my peers here at DPC!!!

Please, if you have problems, or if it loads slowly - or anything seems off, let me know!
Thanks,
E

I'm not sure I'm a fan of the song, it seems a bit to introspective and moody. Just IMO, a more fully cheerful song might be more appropriate. The overarching theme of the song is good, but it doesn't "hit" from the beginning. I think if you want someone to keep watching longer, make them feel good doing it.

First off, I gotta say your photos are mega-impressive! Top notch, first rate, fantastic!

About the slide show - excellent job putting that together! A couple of my observations & suggestions:
- I'm not a fan of the song - (personal preference I guess).
- It seemed a bit longer than necessary
- If your photo sequence has grouped shots from the same weddding, you could divide them with a quote/testimonial from that wedding or just sprinkle testimonials every 10 or 15 images - especially specific ones next to photos that highlight some unique specialty like location shoots, non-traditional weddings, etc.

Overall great work though. Hope this helps.

edit: LOL - I was not a fan of the song before wavelength was not a fan - I just took longer to post. ;-)

Looks like, as usual, using music is a dangerous thing. Too many different tastes make it impossible to please everyone.
Just for a change I actually didn't mind the song (usually I am allergic to music being forced onto me), but I think you made it far too important. You carefully timed the photos to the beat of the music, even when that meant some photos went by a little too slowly or too quickly.
I feel that the music has a much too important role in this.

Away from the music now..... the photos are stunning! I adore the wonderful mix of more formal shots with the candids. Many of the less formal ones were carefully posed, but in a beautifully creative way.

The slide show loaded quite quickly and looked very professional. At times I didn't agree with your choice of which photos got more time/importance than others, but you might have some reasons I just don't know about.

After seeing that slide show, I'd hire you in a heartbeat!

Great shots, love the presentation, has that "professional" feel.
I don't think the music is that bad, but then I actually listened to it so in a sense it was a distraction to viewing your work. Perhaps something simpler or more familiar would be better.

Just a reminder, make sure you get permission to use the song. :)

I wondered what software you used to make the slide show? I liked everything about it!

Overall I was very impressed. It started out well, I thought the music was good initially, however I was getting rather bored by the end. I would say the start was great and the music was suitable. I would suggest something like:

Start as you have with the music you have, Bride and groom arriving, the romance, the ceremony, the kiss, cut cake.

Cross-fade to an upbeat track, something fun, bring in the reception, the fun stuff, big smiles, champagne, laughing, dancing.

Cross-fade back to the original track, beautiful day, beautiful people, Bride and Groom, fade out.

wow, thanks everyone!
The song is a bit long huh?

I like the idea of putting quotes into it....
also starting with a slow track, then picking it up a bit!

Well, back to the drawing board!

I guess what I was trying to say is make the emotional feel of the slide-show and the music match the emotional pattern of the day. Anticipation, beauty, joyous outpouring, relief and blissful happiness. Or summat like that!

As Art said, fading in your name and a few choice words here and there would be cool.

I don't think you need to go back that far. It just needs a bit of tweaking. It was very, very good and if I was looking for a wedding photographer I would have been impressed. But why stop at very, very good eh? I think it could be quite exceptional, it is close now on the first draft.

Doh! to my typos!

One thing I didn't see mentioned... the slideshow should be the alternate option of viewing the images. Few things are more frustrating than watching a slideshow so it should be a secondary method of viewing the photos rather than the primary or sole so as not to seem difficult to work with.

Very nice. I like it -- even the music -- right up the point the singing started. The music complemented the slideshow well, the singing was just a distraction.

the photos look very good!

but (hehe)

I think I'd select the best.. say.. 20 and add them to your site.!! ± 120 photos is just a LOT to look at.

Beautiful photography. Right off the bat the music lost me. No sure what to suggest. Maybe something more generic without vocals. Also, this thing is waaaayyy long. As much as I liked looking at the photos I couldn't do more than half, esp. with that music.
