Challenge Topic: Roy G. Biv

Challenge Details: Roy G. Biv, the mnemonic for the colors of the optical spectrum. Your challenge this week is to include all seven colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet) in your rod and cone stimulating entry.

Was completely clueless when I saw this as a thread heading (ok, no comments about being clueless most of the time...) Those of us from the UK, and especially from the correct side of the Penines are more familiar with Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain.

Sounds interesting, also sounds like easy fodder for the DNMC crowd. I should also add it sounds challenging to anyone that has any degree of color blindness (myself included).

This would be a strange challenge.

That reminds me of another phrase that is used to remember another sequence, "My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzapies" Anyone know what it deals with?

I grew up in Canada and learned it as Roy G. Biv. Never heard the Brit version until now.

Probably because I grew up in Newfoundland and we didn't become part of Canada until 1949, my grandparents and parents used a lot of British terms and we still do today.

Pluto's not a planet.

I think the DNMC crowd is going to have a field day nailing people on the difference between indigo & violet.

But, Pluto was classified as a planet when these sayings originated. So, perhaps it should now read: My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzapies...NOT!

And when does red become orange, or when does orange become red? :)

How about the monitor differences too? How many DNMCs would people get because of crappy monitors?

Ummmm...doesn't that situation already exist, and we still have challenges anyway? :P

I can't tell if you're on the yeah or neigh (sp?) side of this challenge suggestion based on that comment. :D

How about "Please Do Not Take Sausage Pizza Away"? (I think that's right - need to check my old class notes) Hint - it's a geeky thing. :)

Yes it does, but people could "Well, I guess the grass is blue where he took this picture." Whereas in this challenge, they might think, "Where's Green? It's not just Roy Biv. There's a G in there. DNMC!"

Actually I think it IS a cool suggestion. I just couldn't resist being a smart aleck though ;)
