I think we should just make a deal with the company that makes his favorite drink...
Make them bring to his house a truckful of his favorite Booze, wich would make him too drunk to shoot;)

That's exactly the point. Just remember Nasti's Grace entry. Brilliant composition, technically excellent, met the challenge well, and only somewthat 58th place. Shame you are all still busy with only rice puddings and alcohol stuff, while ignoring such important viewpoints. (Don't misunderstand me, fun stuff like that is important part of our lives, too, but as I always say the way of seeing is the way of not seeing.)

And, oh yeah, Kiwi's doing his very best to entertain you, but actually it's YOU who vote those high points for him. :-))) Anyway, is it a problem that he is trying to meet your taste?

I don't think that anyone is to blame as such. It is just a shame for the site. |

Maybe more such kind of challenges which were about especially these kind of subjects: Candid, Architecture, Nature, Life-shots would help those who are voted low, now. I know there used to be such challenges, maybe there should be more of them. Just an idea. :-)

I think maybe there's just a misperception about the success of studio shots. Maybe this has been true in the past? I just went and looked at the winners of the past 30 challenges (well, the first 30 in the archives). A rough tally (in my faulty head) seems to show that there are slightly more winners of the outdoors/wildlife/nature/architecture type than studio shots. Some challenges lend themselves to studio shots (still life, science), others to outside shots (urban landscapes, insects), but in the more wide-open categories, outdoor shots still seem to outdo studios by a meaningful margin.
Maybe you guys just really like doing studio shots more than you want to admit to yourselves... :-o Or maybe you just feel safer with studio shots, since you've mastered many of the techniques? I don't know, but food for thought.
...and this from someone who has mastered nothing, and feels safe with no shot. So, not throwing stones, just offering another perspective...
