I have the feeling I should have taken this shot (august 2003) a bit more from the right and I feel it lacks something......
It also had a bit of Photoshop work. I removed a trashcan, recovered the shadows (manually, not with SRpro as stated in the photo details), ran chroma noise reduction (also took out a lot of moire / bayer interpolation faults) and boosted the colors with DV pro.
I used a focal length of app. 350mm to cram the windmills into this space.
The foreground consists of road, so getting more space in front is not an option. Perhaps I should have positioned lower and do a from the ground up shot? Anyway, I'd like to hear from you about this photo, thanks. Dull or not? How to improve stuff like this (get some people in the frame?)?

Hey Az how is it?. What's all that software you talkin about there? I haven't heard of half of it!
Anyway, cool pic, and I'll be coming to visit you soon for sure to do some windmill stuff with you okay? Our last meeting fell through, but next time it'll happen.
Anyway, where was the trash can? Not much I would change from my point of view. You could probably bring in a bit more dramatical effect by burning the clouds to make give them a stormy effect, also lighten the front side of the front mill by dodging it a little. Otherwise an awesome pic, even as it is!

Apart from a lack of inspiration, bad weather, a bruised foot, etc I am fine. :) So, how about you, can you still see above the mountain of ribbons around you? :þ

Those are all Fred Miranda Photoshop plugins and actions that make editing a little less time consuming.
Shadow Recovery Pro plugin
Digital Velvia Pro action
Chroma Noise Reducer
There is also a Shadow Recovery plugin that is designed for 10D files, perhaps it will have slightly better results when you have a 10D.
A sample of what Chroma Noise Reducer does can also be seen at the ISOx Pro plugin sample page(costs more): ISOx Pro
I didn't use the Shadow Recovery Pro (with build-in, non standalone ISOx Pro) on this pic, but got better results by using the method described by DPC's Tim Jensen in his Improving Shadow and Highlight Detail tutorial. I recorded an action based on this tutorial. I only have to alter the sliders and flatten the image.

It sure will. Don't know about the soon part, december is pretty busy. I hope that there will be some snow and ice in January or February so that we can create some nice Winter landscapes. And if that doesn't work out it will soon be Tulip Time again in windmill country. :)

The trash can was at the bench, near the underside of the frame, below the middle windmill at the end of the shadow of the big one in front.
Dodging the frontside will not work unfortunately. It is already a corrected shadow area and holds no further detail.
Thanks for your comment Gary! :)
