| OK, got an email for the speed challenge...but why would I get this email if I can't enter the challenge. Kinda sucks... |

Speed challenges have always been members-only. The email is jsut to let you know it's on in case you reaaally wanted to enter and could pay $5 for a month membership to enter. You can turn off the emails in your preferences page.

Don't think you're going to get a lot of sympathy. You've got a D80 and two lenses; so we know you're not destitute. Cough up the $25 for a year membership; it's not much to ask.

Only 1 lense...but yeah, I know. I haven't taken it out of the box yet (Busy...stress...) Hope to get it out tomorrow.

I know. I'm going to, I promise. It sucls that I haven't done anything yet. I've got so many pretty images here to take. I just wish I didn't have to work so much and deal with so many things.
FYI...I'm not all that upset about the email. I just didn't realize it wasn't for non-members until AFTER I looked all over my apartment for a nice shot. |

So how come I got the e-mail when I'm not elligible to take part AND have the option switched off in my preferences?

If you have the option turned off, you should not have received the email. Whether you are eligible to take part has no bearing, just whether you have selected to receive the email.
There are four email-related options in your preferences:
HTML E-Mail
Weekly Update
Speed Challenges
Confirmations
Which of these do you have turned on, and which day do you have selected for the weekly update?
Also, what was the subject line of the email?

| Just to be clear, I wasn't complaining...I was just a bit disappointed I couldn't do enter because I wasn't a member...got a bit excited that there was a speed challenge. |

HTML Email is on, the rest are off. The Weekly update has Wednesday chosen, BUT the weekly update check-box is not checked.
I think the subject line was "A new speed challenge has begun" but as I deleted it, I can't be sure of that.
