How many of you have had a string of pretty good to great scores and then had one that just TANKED?!
You know, you're feeling good, got your groove on, photos are high flying, your confidence is building....and then...you enter it: that one picture that dwells in the basement of scores...the one that reminds you your not Ansel Adams...the one that screams, "why the hell did you enter me??"
Hence: My Free Study Challenge entry for February! Uuggg! |

ALWAYS after a really high score (or top placement), I will enter not one, but usually a string of clunkers.
It's like I'm on this wave of being in tune with the dpc voters. I do well, and my scores climb, climb, climb, and I'm in the "good zone," then the wave crashes and it's like the voters opinions change and I'm out of it again. (kidding, i know it's not the voters fault). |

Yep, My "ICE" entry is getting the cold shoulder at the moment.
As you say, I shouldn't have entered it as I knew it wasn't a good shot, but, I spent the time to prep and take it, so I entered it. Not too bothered about my average score etc (Was only my 4th challenge entry), so not such a big deal. |

I got my personal best and my personal worst in the same week!
I blame the WPL! ;) |

I do it all the time. My scores graph looks like a ping pong match. Nobody wins all the time, well Shannon does, but he's a freak! ;)

I consider it a good sign. If my scores kept the same week in, week out it would just show that I was never trying anything new. Usually when I do well is a sign that I've fallen back on shooting the same old same old, so I try to shoot something more interesting the next time and my score plummets. |

I know what that feels like, keep wondering if those ribbons were just a lucky shots, 2 in one week, then down, down, down from there LOL it's fun though when suddenly oops! Didn't expect a 6+ for that :) |

I have the opposite problem. I'll have a lovely run of low to mid 5's then all of a sudden a freak 6 shows up. They don't happen all that often though, so I don't worry about it all that much. :-) |

When I use to participate, I used get a really bad score then a high score/ribbon. Big believer in the law of averages.

I almost did that, but it was my second-best and second-worst in the same week. And then I did it again a month later.
I'm not quite doing that this week, but I'm about to have three scores of 5.8, 5.8, and 6.1 followed by two shots at 5.1.

My free study entry is barely keeping my streak of 6+s alive. I fully expect to submit a horrible photo soon. |

I have yet to see a comment for a 1... I mean to actually see the "1" specified in the comment itself, like "This is a bad picture - 1".
