Getting a Dq sounds horrible *wince*.. especially over something that's avoidable.. but it's a lesson well worth remembering.. Imagine winning a ribbon like SandyP and then getting dqed.. At least now you'll be very very careful

Yes, I will be reading the rules multiple times before submitting anything!!!

When I bought my 20D I only took a cursory glance at the time/date, which the store had set for me, seemed OK. Then they posted the "high contrast" challenge and 6 hours later I was out at dawn to shoot what turned out to be a ribbon-winning entry.

Only upon validation did I realize the time/date was 12 hors out of synch, and what should have been 6AM the first day of the challenge was in fact 6PM the day BEFORE the challenge: instant DQ :-( Even gray-haired olf men can be blonde.

What really sucked was that if this had been the SECOND day of the challenge (or any other day of it for that matter) the setting wouldn't have mattered...

Awwww. sorry to hear it. live and learn. and the silver lining: at least you got the dq now instead of unknowingly cropping a future minimal ribbon shot.

I know the feeling, I got my first DQ on my first and only 7+, I had the year set wrong...lol

I seem to remember checking the date on my camera about the first of the year late at night and I think that is is when I set it to 2006 not 2007.

Some times you just feel dumb but it happens to us all from time to time.
