Great inside look at judges critiquing student portfolio's from the Sport Shooters site.

2006 Student Portfolios: The Judges Comment

These critics sound much like the critics here. They are looking for something specific without regards to who and why the presented photos are made.

Actually, I didn't think that very brutal at all. They gave a lot of images "that's okay" and only wow on a few. I have listened to the juried competitons for PPA and those guys are brutal. Nothing gets an A - everything has a flaw and they nitpick images to death. Winning entries often have a page of judging critique.

What's the magic to getting Quicktime to work? It's been a decade and I've always had problems getting the piece of shit software to work for me from Windows3.1 to Win95 to Win98 to Win2K to WinXP.

What's the damn dysfunction?

I don't get it ... they raved and I shared pretty much every opinion.

Oh sorry I was watching the winner ;P I'm at work so I'm tryin to be stealth.

That was the winners portfolio. If you look at some of the runner ups, they arent nearly as generous with the praise.

I just realized that - I was sorta hiding the window at "work" ;{}

OK I just went through four of them - pretty fun to llisten to and I agree about 71% ... It has the same appeal that American Idol does - you have your opinion, then Simon gives his ;P

"fine...fine...it's fine...pretty fine...fine, fine..."

Doesn't that guy have any other words in his vocabulary?? jeez, that was annoying! I really don't think they were being harsh at all, but those photos were definitely better than "fine".
