Woke up to an insightful comment from one of the bagheads: "A tighter crop would have been nice" lol. methinks some of the voters may have forgotten to read the minimal editing rules!

Crop can mean framing, i.e. framing the shot tighter when you took it.

I have five comments. Four are very much missing the point that INCLUDING A TREE IN THE COMPOSITION IS NOT THE SAME AS MAKING IT THE SUBJECT.

Relatively few comments is a bit disappointing. Still, a new PB is a new PB, if it stays at that score.

Anyone else finding this a dismal voting experience?
I think the minimal edits and the monotony of the subject is a real big issue.

I hit the 20% vote minimum and have lost the will to live ;-)
I guess there just weren't any trees that didn't look like the ones in everyones back yard in that batch.

I'm definitely benefiting from the dullness of the other entries ;-)

I think some of the voters are missing the term " minimal editing ". Even though my shot is straight from the cam and looks like it will be a "PB", i am getting editing comments that are not within the rules..

Voting seems to have stalled on this one while everyone is busy figuring out what an acronym is, when ice becomes snow (or vice versa), and how many dark pixels it takes to make something low key. C'mon people -- take a break from the arguments and vote on the trees! I've been stuck in the 160s for a couple days now:

Oh, wait, I forgot ... we can't agree on what a tree is, either. Sorry for the interruption. You can all go back to your dictionaries now. ;>)

I can't get back to voting yet. The dictionary did not help. I'm still trying to figure out if a partial tree meets the challenge. Or does it have to be at lest one whole tree? And if you include multiple trees does it count if one of them is partial. Damn, these challenge descriptions are just too tough.

AhA! Finally, shook a tree and out fell a 7 ;) Good luck.

Finished voting 100% pretty nice selection, especially considering the editing limitations. FWIW, I just passed 400 views ;)

That's great Mark!
I am still clunking along just under 5.0 with 4 comments.
Maybe there should be a "Definition of Challenge" challenge, where only how "correctly" the image meets the challenge is scored, and not the technical merit of the images.
I guess that "Free Study" is the only subject not tangled up in the "definition of challenge scope" threads.

Done my voting, done my bumping... there was more upward movement than downward. Just for fun, heres my votes cast:

1 - 0
2 - 1
3 - 10
4 - 44
5 - 109
6 - 80
7 - 25
8 - 5
9 - 3
10 - 1

Avg vote cast for the challenge of 5.342. Decent curve, my votes cast is a little below my average, but I guess thats to be expected when theres no post processing allowed...
