Microscopes don't give good sharp eye-candy photos. This is what they're supposed to look like. Biology exemplified in a superb way, and my favorite shots of the challenge.
 
Art may not be biology, but the reproductive urge, the very foundation of life as we know it, is indeed biology.
Reminds me of a younger child's textbook illustration:
A unusual and beautiful landscape, which meets the challenge in my eyes. Without water, nothing would survive, and the freezing of water has drastic effects on living cells, tissues, organisms, and ecosystems.
What I will call semi-underrated:
 got a great placement but I honestly did think it would score higher
