Seeing these two images within the space of 30 minutes, I was struck by the similarities:

Edward Weston: Cypress Root and Succulents

and

Vincent Van Gogh: The Starry Night

Do you find art influencing your photography at all ?

Peronally I'm trying to be influenced by Helmut Newton but so far no dice.

I assume that you are talking about traditional media like painting and sculpture. In which case, the answer is: All the time.

I enjoy the cubists and their way of interpreting the world through multiple viewpoints of the same object. When I was doing film photography, I used to photograph the same object or related objects and make them into mosaics.

But isn't photography art too?? It influences the other art forms as well.

Apart from all the real master of light with paint (Joseph Wright of Derby most particularly), Andre Kertesz is the photographer who has the biggest influence on my little efforts. see this and weep.
