What is bokeh? I've seen it in a bunch of places. Can't figure it out.

BoKeh is the pleasing out of focus area around your subject

Does it stand for something? And how is that different than shallow DOF?

BoKeh defined is blur or idiot in Japanese. But BoKeh is more of a concept.

I believe the term is actually Japanese. You almost have to have shallow DOF to have bokeh. The shallower the DOF the more bokeh there is...

well read some of those BoKeh discussions they are quite fun and there are 2 distinct camps of how the concept of BoKeh is viewed. Thus my LMAO! :-D
