After sweeping all five Grammyâs they were nominated for last night at the Grammy Awards, the Dixie Chicks was the big entertainment story of the morning on all the news networks. They all had the same basic story of how they made their comeback after being shunned after making an anti war statement against Bush in 2003.

Iâve flipped thru all the networks and searched major news websites such AP, Rutgers, Fox, MSNBC, CNN, etc and not one word is mentioned of the quite popular 2006 documentary Shut Up & Sing, which chronicled their âfall from graceâ with country radio.

Some might accuse me of being a conspiracy theorist, but I find that too coincidental that a documentary that pretty convincingly placed the blame of their radio ban on corporate ownership of radio stations is now being ignored by the same industry.

edit for grammer

Ugh... To report the news. I thought that was their duty. To report the story without including the doc or or at least the actual conflit is sketchy journalism, IMO. But that is what happens when 99% of news media is owned by a handful (less than 10) companies.

You were expecting what? An admission from the radio industry that "Oh gee, we did it, we were sooo wrong and we're soooooo sorry?"

Puh-leeze.

Who cares anyway?

Ya know....I give kudos to the Dixie Chicks! I love their song "I'm Not Ready to Make Nice" and why should they. Alot of people have made political comments about our government, our president, our politicians, both celebrities and not. Its nice to see that the record industry looked past all the hype and listened to the music.

Oh and The Police, can't wait for the tour and MJB rocked!!

No I wasn't expecting an apology at all, but the lack of mentioning the documentary is a blatant omission. I care because it is indicative of how the news is being molded by corporate interests instead of journalistic integrity. Yes, in the whole grand scheme of things this story isnât important, but if they are willing to omit vital information on something as insignificant as this what about issues with say drug companies. CNNâs as well as many others are dominated by drug advertisements; do you really think they are going to be unbiased on reporting news concerning them?

Take cover! Get out your tinfoil helmets! Flying saucers are invading! Bigfoot's rampaging downtown Seattle! The Loch Ness Monster just ate Glasgow!

They didn't mention what Maines had for breakfast either. Do Kellogs have a strange hold on media outlets too ? Did she have an omelette ?
