Mmmmmm - Not giving up my SLR just yet - I can see that sometimes the compact is great but in certain shots I think people read too much into the "Simple" element - For instance David Burnett - Photojournalist - His picture of the Eiffel Tower shot from a moving car......Well looks like a picture shot from a moving car - I don't think shooting this on a compact has any extra artistic merit?
It is of course all personal but sometimes I get a little jaded with the "because it is different - because it is raw - because it is so simplistic" type people. Don't get me wrong I love a good picture - And that's just it. I like it because it's a good picture not because it's going against the norm which i feel sometimes people get a little too carried along with.
Just my two cents....Or maybe just my 3 dollars......
