Im trying to put my profile picture on my profile, and it says that it must be 120 X 90 or 90 X 120. When I try to resize it, I put 120 as the width and it changes the height to 80, and it won't let me adjust it to 90. How do I get it to the right size?

Jamie, which tool are you using to resize the image?

One of two things:
1) When resizing don't contrain the aspect ratio though this will skew your image
or
2) Size the image so the short side is 90 then crop the long side to 120 |

Hi there,
I've used this tutorial to successfully get my images ready for this site.

That way might be better, if you have 15 pixels to crop.
Steps:
1. Resize image to 135 x 90.
2. Crop the 135 side to 120.

The tutorial was great for resizing images for your portfolio for 640 pixels, but Im trying to resize for my profile picture (a picture of me) and it has to be 120 X 90 or 90 X 120 and I can only get it to be 120 X 80 or 80 X 120.

OK so if you are using elements then you will have access to the crop tool (its a long time since I used elements).
Use the crop tool. I think there should be a set of options just under the menu bar which allow you to enter the size of the crop. Enter 120px x 90px, then select the portion of your image.
This is not the recommended way for DPC entries, but is useful for your profile photo where quality isn't really an issue.

Thuink of it this way it needs to be slightly croppe due to aspect ratio.
EXAMPLE
If you have an 8x10 you want a 4x6 your not gonna be able to just resize a resized 8x10 would go down to 4x5.... however you can crop the 8x10 to a 6.66x10 (of course losing part of the image) and then u can resize it to a 4x6.
BTW!!!!!!! Um last i checked it has to be 120x90 or under i believe ur actually allowed to make it smaller lol. Could be wrong. |

You'll have to understand aspect ratios for what you're trying to do. Like MrEd said, resize to 135 x 90 and cut off the longer size to 120. For now, why don't you post the image and let us do it for you. |

Do you have the full size shot? There's no room to crop off the top or bottom, which is what it looks like you'll need to do.
