Okay, the reaccuring comment on my Food Challenge entry was focus. So I played with the image a bit and wonder if the second would have done better. Here is the original:
Here is the new version:
If you voted would the second one have gotten a little higher score?

That's a dramatic increase! If that's the same photo you entered, what did you do to obtain such a sharp focus in your post editing?
Take us to school! I often get focus comments on my images. |

I think popcorn is quite original for the recipe challenge...
but just a personal preference, dun really like your bowl... =)
Anyway... I think that the second one is a bit too sharpened for my taste.... |

I am having a hard time learning about this oversharpening thing. What do you see that makes her second one look oversharpened? (from the first two posted) |

Neuferland, I gave your submission a 5, but if you had entered the top one of these two It might have moved up to a 6. Its much better.

Wildflower Joy, On the first group; look at the surface of the bowl for squiggly lines, the white outline of the popcorn on the bottom right, and the highlight on the rim of the bowl. Deannda chose a good picture to practice on. The darkness of the background hides the oversharpening somewhat. As she has demonstrated by her multiple posts, sometimes less is better. Her last efforts are much more pleasing and they have the right amount of sharpening added to them, imo.
Good job Deannda. I like the last posts better. Hope you don't mind me barging in. |

Don't mind a bit, you explained it much better than I did, thanks! I'm still learning all these things and can use all the input I can get.
